  1. E-Rod isn't getting traded. We've got enough expensive stars as it is.
  2. But Ted Williams refused to go the other way when they shifted him. And it didn't change Big Papi's approach much either. An occasional bunt that we all enjoyed, that was about it. And it didn't seem to hurt his numbers continuing to smash the ball to right.
  3. How often did you actually see the radical shifting though? I'm not talking about the existence of that strategy as an option, but the actual use of it. And now of course it's based on sophisticated analytics.
  4. In theory that would be great. In reality the general response is LaunchBall.
  5. I can't see a clean way to change that rule.
  6. Defensive shifting on every play is not something we grew up with.
  7. I'm going to start up a new thread on the batting order just for you, cp. By tonight.
  8. If suck breeds suck, how come JBJ, Nunez and Brasier were on a 119-win team last year.
  9. That's when he starts lecturing us about the respective states of our franchises.
  10. If we had blown that game, today we would have a real Fire Cora thread, possibly a Fire Dombrowski thread, and various other ugliness, perhaps a banning or two.
  11. If it's Babe, it's brilliant work by him I have to say.
  12. If we were playing Baltimore I'd be more inclined to agree with you. Playing the MFY's with the way they've been swinging the bats and the porch out there...I support Cora 110%...nail the bastard down and get out of there.
  13. Pro sports is in bed with gambling as it is, so that shouldn't be a problem.
  14. Right. Should have figured that.
  15. Barnes is not being overused. Going into last night's game he had thrown 23 pitches in the previous 6 days.
  16. It's just bizarre that both of the London games are being treated as home games for the Sox. Why wouldn't it be one and one?
  17. Well, I totally disagree on this one. It's not Cora's fault that the field conditions are s*****. And if Barnes is having trouble why wouldn't Brewer or Brasier or whoever have just as much trouble. Cora was just trying to nail down a game we badly needed. And maybe his thinking was influenced by the Cleveland game in the previous series where the pen gave up 7 runs in the last 2 innings...
  18. JDM needs to be limited in OF play not just because of his D but because of his health.
  19. But what you said is that Cora almost blew the game by using Barnes.
  20. Huh, why's that? Day off today, why wouldn't you use Barnes?
  21. Even the ones who are disagreeing vehemently with the OP like yourself?
  22. My thoughts exactly. I thought it was a gimmick from the get-go. There shouldn't be a big reward for winning a bad division. Last year Cleveland would have won the Central with a .500 record. There will always be cases like that with 3 divisions.
  23. Price has been excellent this year.
