  1. Decent. I wish we were able to get somewhat of a decent starting pitcher instead of more pen though
  2. Tell us how you really feel. Honestly, for all we know Victorino and Napolli could do well for us and both have solid seasons/good numbers. 8/10 people last season were humming the same tune as you regarding Cody Ross, and he had a really good year (especially compared to his talksox.com projections from haters sounding like you do now) If we move Elsbury and get something worthwhile for him, we should be heading in the right direction
  3. So much of what you said here is wrong/weird/nonsensical. You have no confidence in anyone aside from Pedroia, but at the same time the Red Sox are just a "few pieces" away from competing in 2013? I would have liked to get Hamilton and Swisher, I hear you...but for all we know, those guys didn't even want to come to Boston. Keep that in mind. We may have gotten "Meh" players for reasons that don't make sense to you if you don't know the future plans/big picture, which none of us do entirely. You're right about the starting pitching - We need a miracle there, and I think everyone here agrees. Red Sox are aware of it and will hopefully make some sort of moves to get something done in that department.
  4. -Does this Victorino deal not suggest that Swisher or Hamilton are out of the picture as potential acquisitions? Surely we would have chosen Swish over Victorino, no? Maybe Swish didn't wanna come to Boston. I would have rather retained Cody Ross at his asking 25m/3-years than get Victorino, though. -I think Elsbury must be getting dealt so that we can free up some room/money for starting pitching. -I don't think we would go after Wilson when we already have Bard/Aceves/Bailey? -Why wouldn't starting pitching be more of a priority than the moves made so far? I am a newb, someone fill me in. Perplexed here.
  5. lol fair enough, man. I know it's a touchy subject. There are certain MLB players that I dislike so much that nothing could get me to change my opinion of them.
  6. Yeah, that's just it eh. We can have an 'A' offense and still lose with a flawed rotation/bullpen. True that
  7. Not me, man. I have always said that of all of the Yankees, I DO respect and do not hate: Mark Tex, Granderson, Swisher, Rivera. For Real.
  8. "a solid start" is an understatement, there man. If we had Gomes, Swish, Nap AND Ross...Dayum.
  9. NZSox, your signature is dated, bro! Cody Ross had a good year, but I think him and his agent valued him too high to have a hope at staying in Boston. A shame really, because everyone seems to like him and he seems to like Boston. The problem is he just isn't worth the same money as Mike Napoli or Nick Swisher and guys on that level IMO
  10. Aceves is the new #1 IMO. lols, right.
  11. 5) Tells free agents that this team is very serious, without hurting their payroll to a point where it will prevent them from making more signings. Awesome way of articulating this point. This is always a huge factor for Boston. Hopefully in the next 3 years we see our line-up get stacked
  12. Yeah, I agree that he has hardly any value to us...but there has to be a team somewhere that is willing to give us something for Salty. (I think/hope?) At the same time, I do understand that we wouldn't get anything of much value for him player or money wise.
  13. Stoked on this. Hope Mike is cool with playing 1st base, and hopefully he does well in that role. Now to trade Salty?
  14. Would Swish not rather play somewhere else if given multiple options for the same contract? I wonder if he would even want to play in Boston, especially if he could play in Texas or somewhere else. I disagree that signing Swisher being a "MUST" by any means. No way. I would be stoked however if we did land him for 2-3 years though. Especially considering the likely farewell of Cody Ross.
  15. Agreed/Backed. My vote would go to keeping Lester.
  16. Agreed. And Ben knows it too. As long as decent moves are made and Boston starts playing better than the last 2 seasons, I really couldn't give a rats ass who is making those decisions.
  17. No, no, and please no. Respect Youk? Yes. Want to bring him back at this point? Are you seriously serious? Seriously.
  18. Count me in as happy with this. Not a big Aviles fan, and Farrell is bound to do good things with our team. IMO.
  19. Are we most likely dealing the guys we just picked up from LAD? We pretty much have our infield set for next year minus 1B, no? Curious as to your opinions
  20. Again, happy to see he is passionate enough to get worked up - but I should have clarified that it is rediculous to get that upset considering: - He knew he was a temp until Bailey came back - He shat the bed the night prior (and lately in general)
  21. Least he is passionate about wanting the role
  22. Papi chose to play that role in the HR derby. No-one designated him to do anything - He volunteered to be a cheerleader so that he didn't risk partaking in the derby and not having as good of a 2nd half to the season as the first. Smart move, really. He said he noticed that last year, the derby caught up with him afterwards and that he is getting older and needs to sit this one out and let the young guys hit/partake etc.
  23. C'mon guys/gals. Anyone/Everyone who was bitching about Youk being useless to us can seriously just shut the F right up regardless of how well he does for another team. I respect Youk, and am thankful for everything he did for us - but he was no longer of any use whatsoever on our roster. I hope he does well, but I am glad that we parted ways. He will have the off-day where he comes up 'big', but otherwise is meh all-round.
