    Aceves is in the bullpen. They're keeping Bard in the rotation, because they think he's too good to be a set-up man. THEY ARE THINKING ABOUT THE LONG-TERM GOOD OF THE TEAM. Besides, Bailey has a thumb injury, not a UCL tear. Calm down.

    AFV last year was 92.7, topping out at 96. His velocity in spring is way down. Regarding Aceves.

    For all intents and purposes, Bard's going to end up back in the BP as he approaches his innings limit anyway.

    Aceves pitched the most innings out of anyone in that bullpen. The point is, that with the returning cast, Melancon (who hasn't looked good) and Bailey (who has a minor thumb injury, call the ICU unit) don't have to be lights-out to keep the bullpen respectable. Also, i bet you would have complained if they kept Papelbon at that money if he reverted to 2010 form. It's just a lose-lose proposition.
