  1. We just acquired Scott Podsednik. Yet another OF for the pile. Will this be the day McDime is DFA'd?
  2. Buchholz ERA will rise some more, but we'll win!
  3. More Buchholz stats at http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/red-sox/post/_/id/19005/w2w4-breaking-down-buchholz There's some that just make you say "Wtf?"
  4. Clay Buchholz finished second in the American League with a 2.33 ERA just 2 years ago. Thanks to his current 9.37 ERA, Buchholz would need to throw 95 consecutive scoreless innings to get his ERA down to that level. Easy peasy, Japanesey.
  5. Bard hasn't been nearly as good as you're giving him credit for. Our rotation by ERA+ (100 is league average): Lester 98 Bard 88 Doubront 84 Beckett 71 Buchholz 47 That is garbage. Only the Twins have a worse rotation, and they're led by the immortal Carl Pavano.
  6. I wanted to begin in the offseason by trading Ellsbury for a #1, which was feasible if we tossed in a prospect or 2. That ship has sailed, and Ellsbury's value has plummeted.
  7. John Maine would've pitched to a sub-9.09 ERA. Buchholz is historically horrible right now, and Beckett isn't far behind him. There are 100 FA pitchers out there who would outperform both of them.
  8. When the season started, it looked like we had a #1 (Lester), a #2 (Beckett), and #3 (Buchholz), with question marks at 4 and 5. Today, we have 2 #3's (Lester and Beckett), and 3 #4's (Buchholz, Bard, and Doubront). Buchholz may actually be a mop-up guy at this stage, but they'll never admit it. We absolutely need a #1, nearly every great team in the past has had one.
  9. Fearless prediction for 05/11/12: Clay Buchholz' ERA rises yet again, but we get the win.
  10. Shoppach will hit the game tying GS on the bottom of the 9th.
  11. I love B-R.com because it breaks down absolutely everything
  12. More fun stats.. Triple Slashes Stephen Strasburg: .308/.357/.538 Adrian Gonzalez: .288/.348/.408
  13. Starters: 173 IP @ 5.77 ERA Relievers: 104 IP @ 4.33 ERA Not including tonight. That starter ERA is trending towards 6.00
  14. It's not even frustrating anymore. It's rather comical watching the 2 highest payrolls in baseball flounder in the AL East cellar at a combined $380M payroll and 28-32 record.
  15. At least the Yankees are letting us stay close
  16. 56 pitches? I would've made him pitch to 120, regardless of the outcome. This team is a lost cause.
  17. WMB is not going to get a single pitch to swing at.
