  1. I have only seen the Canadian House of Commons debate once or twice. Is question time in Canada as "interesting" as that in the UK?
  2. Watch the debate in the English House of Commons, it will broaden your horizons
  3. I find that amusing since you don't know me from Adam. As I said I wasn't one who resorted to the pejorative. I never called anyone's idea idiotic that was your inference obviously stemming from your recognition of the weakness of your contention which was intellectually indefensible which you were emotionally unable to accept and hence reacted with an emotional response. You can repeat yourself until dooms day and it won't change that fact that you interjected the pejorative.
  4. Directly calling some one an idiot is crude. Sarcasm is a respected form of rhetoric. used in debate. Just watch the debates in the House of Commons. The greatest orator of the 20th century regularly used sarcasm in his speeches. I speak of course of Winston Churchill.
  5. Actually you don' t. The Nats won it all without a particular strong farm system. What you need is a farm system strong enough to produce a couple of prospects a. year.
  6. Gee wiz I never knew that! Of course the same can be said about Epstein and Cherrington. They all benefited from the team that the original DD, Dan Duquette built
  7. Kimmi, you are a good sport! Kimmi I have been there since the Joe Cronin years.
  8. First of all I wasn't offended by Notin, but was merely pointed the fact that I never used the pejorative of stupid or idiotic but he had. I grew up in an Italian American neighborhood in the fifties. Pejoratives from misinformed snowflakes do not offend me. BTW I guess we will be seeing you at the parade for the best minor league systems. Where do you think they will hold it, Lowell or Greenville SC?
  9. Was that sarcasm? Careful you know how sarcasm offends the snowflakes out there.
  10. I followed this team when Williams was still in Korea. If Betts goes it won't be the end of the world. I will find some one else to root for
  11. Bush was working for the Red Sox for three yeas. He was therefore the internal candidate not an outsider. As for the rest I think I made my point and I get you do not like sarcasm. Sorry you are so easily offended.
  12. I may use sarcasm and am sardonic but I am not so crude as to refer to some one I disagree with as idiotic. And I did not call anyone in this series of posts stupid as the record will show. The only one to use that pejorative was you. I don't know how much experience you have had hiring and firing people but I can assure you virtually every high performance organization does precisely that namely eschew an otherwise qualified internal candidate in favor of an outsider precisely to achieve a desired cultural technological shift especially when it comes to something like wishing an organization to revamp the way it preforms a particular task in this case revamp its approach toward pitching albeit a technical skill. The budgetary constraints are totally self imposed. Henry knew what he was getting when he hired DD. DD did exactly what Henry wanted and expected him to do to win a title which he did. DD's termination had absolutely nothing to do with the state of the farm. DD was fired because of personality conflicts within the organization. As to the state of the farm, you may find it as a reason to bemoan DDs tenure but I suspect very few of the two million plus Sox fans who watched that victory parade after the 2018 championship did. It simply was the price that Henry was willing to pay to win. As I said call me when they hold the parade for the franchise with the best farm system.
  13. Yea I much rather have a top farm system than win the world series. I wonder many baseball fans prefer having a great double A team rather than a world series title. I am sure that all those Nats fans who lined the streets of Washington are really pissed because their farm system is only ranked 17th. NESN rating really soar when the broadcast those PawSox games too. That's why every year the team with the top farm system gets a parade. Oh they don't get a parade. Gee I wonder why not? Earth to Notin 99 percent of Red Sox fans could care less about the state of the farm system and that's not why DD got fired.
  14. Defending Ben who would have thunk it!
  15. Kimmi I would be thunderstuck if you weren't happy with the Bloom or Bush hiring. Not to be inpurtent, but I think Henry and Co could paint the green monster bright yellow and you would find a way to applaud the move.
  16. So will I, none more than Brock Holt.
  17. They may be proven to have been true. Bloom hasn't done anything yet to prove or disprove the conjecture.
  18. Face it Bloom isn't going to be Chief of anything. He is going to be the Coordinator of Baseball Operations. We go from closer by committee to GM by committee. What could possibly go wrong?
  19. I am and I think it is a reasonable conclusion. BTW I know from personal experience that this happens all the time in organizations who are really committed to instituting a cultural change, they hire an outsider regardless of whether there is a well qualified internal candidate. It is this reason that I am skeptical about how much autonomy Bloom will actually I have. I suspect not as much as his predecessors have had.
  20. That seems like an overly optimistic assumption.
  21. While I agree Bush will have to prove himself, it isn't silly to be skeptical that the organization which hired Bush before they announced their desire for a fresh approach toward pitching is sincere in their intention to actually change that approach when they promote an insider to be the agent of that change. He may have a different skill set than LaVangie but that doesn't mean he has embraced the different philosophy toward pitching need to implement that change .
  22. My reaction is not harsh. I just disagree with the hire because I believe it is contrary to their previous statements about a different approach. Unlike some I do not accept on faith every move that comes out of the FO. They aren't the Vatican..
  23. Like I said I wanted them to go outside the organization.
