  1. Amen to that! He will forever be the manager of the team that broke the curse. That is a memory I'll never forget whatever else happens.
  2. I agree. Let's face it Salty has been around for more than a few years. He'll never be any better then he is now. I don't think his defense is that much better than Lavarnway's. Last year the Sox obviously thought Lavarnway was an improvement over Salty since they had him play in some key games in September. So why not now. Youklis isn't the player he once was. While he is showing some signs of life in the last few days, his best days are behind him.
  3. Thank you. Have you noticed that there are those who just post hit and run attacks on other posters but never offer original insights of their own. Curious behavior don't you think. I guess that is why they are called trolls.
  4. "Never apologize it is a sign of weakness" Captt. Nathan Biddles (John Wayne) She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.
  5. Let me be crystal clear and you can take it or leave it or agree or disagree. JH has changed his strategic thinking after the 2011 season. He won't commit to long term FA agents and he is setting the team up for sale. Everything he has done since September 30 2011 suggests to me that that is his goal. " Its business Sonny It ain't personal" Furthermore I am going to go way out on a limb and say, This will become more or less public knowledge before the end of 2012. If I am wrong so be it but this is my opinion and I am sticking to it.
  6. I don't want to quibble but he andd arry have said it in various ways and various times since October most recently Larry said "Our goal is to field a team with more homegrown players, fewer free agents, and to have a more manageable payroll down the road." Various reporters have all said the FA they pursue won't be on long term contracts, meaning don't look for deals beyond 5 years. But again you are missing the larger point. JH is a wheeler and dealer who eschews sentiment. Every thing they are doing and all the indicators tell me that he is setting this team up to be an attractive commodity to sell at a considerable gain to take advantage of another opportunity. That is annouced investment philosophy which everyone ignores
  7. As far as the Red Sox are special to Henry that flies in the face of his investment philosophy as articualted in the business week article or his whole sabermetric data driven approach. This guy eschews human emotion when making business decisions.
  8. Long term liabilities would be a major concern to any buyers. JH basically has said they weren't going to pursue long term FA deals in the future except in very special cases.
  9. It was a gratutous insulting remark which added nothing to the discussion. Disagree if you must but you should try and do so in a way that doesn't deprecate others needlessly. It is unbecoming. BTW I read far more than Massarotti.
  10. This year they made a strategic choice and a marked change in direction and philosophy after they bought Liverpool I believe exactly my point.
  11. Lady i was a fan before you were born!! If the fan base has "evolved" for the worse then it isn't my fault. BTW I appreciate the gratutous insults, obviously the conduct of a higher evolved being. Thank you for sharing your useful insights. They add greatly to the discussion.
  12. BTW I never said the sale was imminen that is an inference that was not intended. The trouble is people (including me) don't always read posts carefully and jump to conclusions hastily. And then can't or won't back down because they didn't read fully what was written.
  13. Remember it was you in this thread who first raised the question of whther JH was losing interst in the RS, if I am not mistaken.
  14. I know but even John Henry can't be in two places at once.
  15. Duh Yes! That's what IMHO means. It my analysis of all the data that I see. I don't expect he'll do it right away. It is a process played out over many months. It isn't like buying or selling a car.
  16. I never said there was. What I said was there was ample reporting about troubles in Liverpool. You called me a liar You were wrong there was reporting in the Guardian and New York Times etc. You were too lazy to either read correctly what was written but wanted to insult instead of reason. I am giving you the courtesy of reply which is more courtesy then you show others.
  17. Apologies accepted you are a gentlemen and a scholar. Some folks just call people liars without any call just to cause trouble.
  18. No you are misquoting me. What I said was there was ample reporting about the problems with Liverpool that were similar to those of the Red Sox. I was called a liar saying that here wasn't ample reporting on this which there was. I have for sometime saw that Henry was becoming d less interseted in the Sox. I am not the only one who feels this way. Several commentators have wondered and saw the same things. I believe virtually everyone on the baseball show have wondered the same. Anyone who has large portfolios knows that when senior management spreads itself thin tthat all enterprises suffer. We are seeing that with both Liverpool and Boston. IMO if I were going to concentrate on one over the other it would be Liverpool for the reasons I set forth above. Dis agreee if you will but therhas been ample reporting on both Liverpool and Boston's problems QED
  19. It isa obvious you aren't someone who deserves either respect or a reply in the future.
