  1. Love your analogy.
  2. Right now Tazaawa is the only one out in the pen who hasn't sucked. The big question is can you trust anyone out there now. Cherrington doesn't want to move Bard to the pen. You have got to wonder whether Ben is "stuck on stupid"
  3. "Blame Valentine all you want. But it's not like he's ignoring obvious choices who could do better. A manager is only as good as the players he manages. The Red Sox have a bunch of players who simply don't belong on the roster." Peter Abraham Boston Globe
  4. Henry and Cherrington are equally responsible.
  5. Henry and LL were caught on camera by Fox during the game. HNenry was writing something on his memo pad. Love to see what he wrote! "Memo to Ben: Get pitching"
  6. I agree. Baseball ops has wanted this guy for years but defensively Shoppach is a better catcher. Salty seems to have a lot of passed balls too. I don't see that Lavarnway as that much worse defensively than Salty from what we saw in the spring. Besides if Lavarnway was so lacking why did he play key games in September over Salty.
  7. I know everyone is looking at BV's role in this mess but he wasn't allowed to hire his own pitching coach. Some of us questioned the hiring of McClure when he was annouced. What is his role in this disaster that is Red Sox pitching.
  8. This game was lost in October when they promoted Cherrington and decided to go dumpster diving for bull pen help. They had ample opportunity to pick up a ML ready starter at reasonable cost for short term and didn't. They let Weaver get away. They decided to have Bard start without having any replacement stopper in the pen. They placed all their money on an injury prone closer and guess what they found out he was prone to injury. The guy hurt himself jumping in place for crying out loud. The went after Melancon as the 8th inning guy and found out he couldn't get anyone out. Now everyone is blaming BV becaue he took out his starter with an 8 run lead with 9 outs left. Now if you are BV or any manager currently or formerly in MLB the question is who do trust in that bullpen to hold a lead? The answer is no one
  9. Thed bull pen gave up 7 runs in back to back innings. Whether Dubrount pitched the 7 or not is unimportant. The fact a bull pen should be able to hold an 8 run lead with 9 outs left. Aceves, Padilla and Albers hadn't pitched in days they weren't over used. The problem is the bull pen sucks. Cherrington went and got crap over the winter.
  10. In an effort to be positive and remind evryone why baseball is such a great game, below is the line score on June 27 2003. The Red Sox scored 14 runs in the first inning that day against the "hapless" Florida Marlins. BTW the Marlins went on to win the World Series that year against the New YorK Yankees. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E FLA 1 0 0 0 4 0 0 1 2 8 10 0 BOS 14 2 1 2 1 0 1 4 - 25 28 1 W: B. Kim (3-6) L: C. Pavano (6-9)
  11. The only positive one can take from today's disaster is it can't get any worse! Then again it could!
  12. In more than 60 years of watching baseball, I never seen a worse performance by pitching staff except for the 30 run debacle by Texas over the Orioles.
  13. Yea firing nthe manager will certainly improve this dog s*** bullpen which gave up 14 runs in two innings. Id agree to BV getting axed if Cherrington and Carmine and the entire FO go first.
  14. How could anyone have expected anything else with the dog s*** bull pen Cherrington put together over the winter. Except for A-GON vitually every move Ep-ington has made since 2009 has been a freaking disaster.
  15. This bull pen is so bad it defies belief. To think that some thought the pen was pretty decent prior to the season starting. What were they drinking.
  16. Hind sight! If the bull pen can't hold an 8 run lead with 9 outs left you really are in sad shape. We're in very sad shape.
  17. He is a man playing poker without any cards. His GM gave him a bullpen of has beens , never wases, and never will be's
  18. Who ever said we had a decent bull pen. This is the worst bull pen in Red Sox history.
  19. Given the Red Sox's recent track record of dealing with the Cubs Bryd will probably go on the DL with a hamstring pull running onto the field from the dugout.
  20. Take Valentine out of the equation, the Cherrington- Lucchino Hnery axis is not working. Henry is the owner he isn't going any where unless he sells the team. Henry isn't going to get rid of Lucchino because Henry won't have anyone to run the club, besides he just extended Lucchino's contract. (And Lucchino is too smart a lawyer he'd make Hnery's life a living hell if ever did.) Henry is too over extended with Liverpool to run the club himself. That leaves Cherrington. Even though everyone believes Cherington's job is safe for now, I suspect that Larry (Il Duce) Lucchino is plotting his demise.
  21. You mean a bully pen
