    it just doesnt make sense for someone who has been reliable all these years to put a question mark behind him and yet sign Carl Crawford for 7 effin years or Jon Lackey for 5 years.... stupid

    i think its stupidity to consider that a guy who was doing really well in Boston all these years to think an injurry would hurt the team and they wouldnt risk him giving a 3 year deal yet Carl Crawford gets a 7 year deal... apparently somebody in the FO is clearly not doing their job list of guys i hate who wore Redsox uniform especially for the amount of money the FO spent..     i have to agree though. i still am not sure if i hate Salty's ability. he is definitely not the best catcher and till now the only upside has been some offense from him. but he sure sucks when it matters to get a hit. I want to see Ciriaco come up soon. that guy was dynamite. perfect bench player.

    we need to utilize the Larussa ploy. we dont have a closer, use the best option on a day to day basis.

    i just said in my comment above he is not good but gets the job done.. i remember Ortiz's HR too the exact way you do.. i am not portraying him as the best, but i am saying starter goes 8 inning 2 run lead. that is what the closer is in there for.

    i am with Dojji on this one.. if someone doesnt have a mindset of a closer, no matter how good his stuff is.. i dont think he should be given the ball in the 9th..

    LOL. but Valverde didnt blow a single game dating back to 2010 should count for something i know what you mean by he is not that good but he got the job done all of last year.. cmon man a high pitch count for his top starter or a guy who didnt blow a save all year.. it was a simple pick..

    we need to let 15-20 days go by before jumping on this but i agree if by the end of 2 weeks we have 5 blown games its going to be really stupid if FO doesnt put Bard back or like you suggested get Mike Gonzalez i still like that option. he has closed before. i however like Cook, the way he has pitched in ST, but again nothings a given with us these days... for all we know and our luck he craps his pants once he is on the roster.

    amen to that, i hope he does cuz he definitely screwed up on that flyball that shouldnt have gotten the runner on 3rd base. but its only game 1... if we keep up with the same fighting spirit and tie the game in the 9th i will take that any day (something that was really missing last year, if we were losing by 1 or 2 i dont think i remember a comeback against a good team) totally agree with your first quote but disagree with your second one.. Verlander was at 105 ptiches and they had their best closer waiting who didnt blew a save all year, i dont see why he would put Verlander out there...its not the sox bullpen

    from Aceves Bard Papelbon to Morales Melancon Aceves. you tell me ... Morales always seemed like a loose canon not sure if i can count on him for some crucial outs.. Melancon until he gets a few innings under his belt i will always be suspicious. Aceves is still okay but like i said i am still scratching my head .. Bailey injurred his thumb and now out for 3 months...and we move Bard to the rotation, too many pieces moving around..i am not complaining but its like WTF just happened feeling... sorry mate! i think i want to stop posting and let a week go by before i come back either venting or happy how the 1st week went..

    I for one am not sure if i really like or hate this idea. In a way it makes sense. but we have Melancon Albers and Morales doing 7-8 innings which makes my stomach churn already..

    i do think you have a point though, he is no Cliff Lee or Halladay yet they are paying him that price.. now does that mean Freakshow will get even a better payday...

    nope, like i said the amount is 10-15 mill more then i would have liked. but it still makes sense for Giants to keep him.
