  1. e-sports....what is that, a catching marketing term used to convince people they are actually engaging in a sport?
  2. This was the dynamic developing that one could see weeks ago. A team that seems utterly incapable of putting together a significant run is stuck behind two teams. So I think the Sox record for the last 13 games is 9-4 and I think 15-12 for August. Where has that gotten us....a couple game closer? when trailing two teams and unable to make a run, how many times will one of the two win and the other lose and you win.....How many time will one of the two win and the other lose and you lose. Worst case, how many times will they both win and you lose. We can watch the number of games in the loss column every day thinking we are closing in because that is of course what the Sox and NESN want us to think (get those ratings up). But it is such an uphill pull again mainly because this team cannot go on significant win runs. Hasn't done it all year and certainly shows no signs of doing it now.
  3. What a horribly game. They just have to score so many runs to win a game these days.
  4. There was a time when there would be a wall in ballparks and a pitcher that walked a guy in that situation would just be put in front of it and summarily shot.
  5. Perfect time for a JBJ bomb. Lets see.... it would be 10-7!!!!
  6. Geezus, did the Angels have enough guys stacked up on the right side of 2nd base against the dangerous Sandy?
  7. f***ing Manfred Missile HR. Well this has been a perfect night. Still trying to keep my dog from dying so did not even hit the liquor cabinet tonight.
  8. Said it a few nights ago...not that it should take a brain surgeon to figure it out. The Sox offense must show up every night. Peters should have been used for a punching bag.
  9. Ausmus does not deserve to have had that work out.
  10. So now Ohtani is gone when Ausmus could have bunted two guys over and given up an out doing it. He only needed a run to take the lead and still could have had Ohtani to use in the 9th if he needed him or even later this inning.
  11. Not sure it makes sense to use Ohtani here. Guess we will see.
  12. Jeezus Christ...did that look ridiculous over there at 1st on the dropped K and throw out to 1st.
  13. More of a shock that Peters is still out there. There is not a RH hitter in our lineup he should be getting out.
  14. I doubt he lacks confidence. He was at the least a solid OFer in his day. That day has past but based on comments made around his signing, he apparently does not believe it or won't believe it because of what it would say about the value he wants to continue to project he has as a player.
  15. Tellin ya...carbon copy of a BJ start. Now if Cora brings him out for another inning, that is courage.
  16. Hey I got two more guys for my Asshat fantasy team from hell. Already had Machado, Iggy and this jerk Upton on the team. Villar from the O's is my 2nd baseman and Gibby has got to be the coach of this team. Gibby would deserve them. I should have all the everyday player positions filled if I put my mind to it.
  17. Isn't this just like a BJ start? Cardiac 1st inning. OK for a second and usually a third before your next aneurysm.
  18. I suspect if we ever saw Ortiz and JD on a dance floor at the same time, that would give us our explanation.
  19. Its BJ!!!! He is past his 1st inning now. Maybe he will be OK for a second inning.
  20. Always has been a very professional ballplayer and those guys really stand out in this era. Used to be buckets and buckets of them.
  21. There has to be something to that. Maybe JD has no interest at all. He may be too ungainly for 1st base. I could believe that. Playing that position is not just falling out of bed for somebody that is a career OFer and sort of lopes around like a wounded giraffe.
  22. Splinter currently looking for a crowbar to remove his tongue having so firmly lodged it in his cheek.
  23. Whereas Albert can't run on anything, infield clay or outfield grass, JD can make his way around the bases OK. But he cannot run in the OF grass AT ALL.
  24. I complimented Trout tonight. That is about all I have seen worth honorable mention. The Angels can't pitch. So Mookie and JD picking them apart is not worth much comment. Oh I will watch till there is no longer any MLB to watch. I had just hoped that MLB would outlive me even with as much as they have screwed this game up. Now I am not so sure. They may have screwed it up so much that I am going to outlive them! Remember, they almost completely destroyed it in the mid 1990's. So for people to think "they got this" is pretty absurd just based on the history.
  25. So here is another of the issues with current MLB. A guy (JD) that really can't track down anything in RF taking a month to get to that baseball while a guy that can't run any more, Albert struggles to get from 1st to 2nd base. If video of that play does not give Manfred nightmares, nothing will.
