  1. Maybe his career is over. Maybe without the focus and intensity that got him to where he was....he will have more and more of these. He is already telling the world that he no longer has that focus as if the world gives a s*** what random thought wafted through his mind. He certainly is not a contending team's number 2 pitcher if he can go out and stink up the place that badly. So either this is not a contending team or Josh is not this team's number 2 pitcher. Take your pick.
  2. If that is Beckett pitching without any physical impediments, then he is off to suckville. No top line pitcher just stands on the mound and grooves the ball like that pitch after pitch. I could give a rats ass about Josh and what are now his multiple distractions. What was he wondering about yesterday? "Gee I wonder if my new baby had a healthy post breakfast burp today." He can only pitch to Tek...for what a career. Well Josh I guess your off to retirement then cause that is where Tek is. Bad pitch selection....let me see.....maybe this doing nothing, no movement, 90 mph fastball right down broadway is the right pitch to throw Prince....Oh Gosh...he missed it....well then lets another.
  3. I really did not like seeing those Youk lifting weights video pieces this winter because they were being presented as Youk in great shape video pieces and in reality they did not mean a darn thing. All it took was one look at Youk actually swinging a bat and if you didn't know the Youk lifting weights stuff was BS before that you knew it then. Isn't any such thing in baseball as bench press 175 lbs and run to first base.
  4. The way he pitched, there might be more to this thumb thing with Beckett after all. He pitched that poorly. Velocity was down. The ball was flat while being up and right in the heart of the plate. I just don't think it likely that he can pitch like that without having some sort of a physical issue going on. In fact, while I would hate to have him on the DL for any length of time, I would prefer to think there is some physical issue than to think that he can pitch that poorly without something physical going on. I think the velocity might be the clue. He was struggling to stay at 90-92 and unable to even hit 94 which he was hitting in ST. The location and lack of velocity lead directly to the home runs. In a couple of cases they were absolute moon shots....just hammered and way out in what is a big ball park. I know Beckett said that he felt compelled to have the thumb looked at when the shot he has been getting for the last eighteen months did not have the same effect. I wonder if in fact he upped the dose or changed the med whatever it is and lost feeling in his thumb. That might explain the lose in velocity and the location. We will probably see something in the pre-game tomorrow or in the paper tomorrow.
  5. With one exception. Nobody was talkin' about them not showin' up for the second game of the year. That was a no show. Possibly something you would expect from a flea bitten August dog of a team. Beckett pitching aside...they played like a downtrodden team plays in the dog days of August. That goes way beyond poor play. Very interested to see what we see/hear out of V and what they hear/see out of V.
  6. I think Buch will surprise us tomorrow. No logic at all. Just that when things go this badly the law of averages often kicks in and you get a plus. I would love to see it as much for Buch as anything else. It might really help him if he comes in there and gives us a great performance. Nobody expects him to be Mr Stopper. I would like it for him. Would like to see him earn some respect from his teammates and get it.
  7. Youk looks old....not uncomfortable. He has been fading in recent years and he just looks like he has caved. I am hoping he will look better when the weather warms up.
  8. Now thats' funny and appropriate!
  9. Wow they went down with their tails between their legs....not one single stinkin' run. That was an embarrassment. Don't mind the loss...don't like the way they are playin'. Heck its not the dog days of August.
  10. I hate Buck and MeCarver so much I have put up with something like a half minute delay between radio and TV just not to hear those two jerks.
  11. You know what is sort of ironic about the whole Iggy/Aviles thing...folks kept offering that since Iggy would likely not hit in the majors it might have an impact on his fielding. I never bought that cause he really has not hit in AAA either and that certainly did not do anything to his fielding. I do wonder if the opposite is happening to Aviles. He has looked even shakier in the field than expected. Wonder if he is putting to much pressure on himself at the plate.
  12. To think I missed the last regular season Bruins game for this. Come to think of it....I did get to see a hockey game. We got stoned by their goalie.
  13. Screw the media....really interested to see how V responds to this. He does look like he is boilin'
  14. Wow just wow. Buch is probably in the dugout goin' "get it all out of your systems today.....pleeeeeese!"
  15. Usually when things go badly like this you get a nice surprise. Maybe just law of averages but I sort of feel like Buch will show up tomorrow.
  16. If Aviles keeps playing like this they need to get him out of there before he runs Ells or Pedey over.
  17. I would not put it past V to bench a bunch of them if they keep this up just to wake them up. Like I said early...wins losses happen...no shows are inexcusable.
  18. Sweeney is our hero...who would uv thunk it?
  19. That is another thing you get with a plus defender....it does bring energy to the defense and they need some energy.
  20. Actually I would like to see them come put and scrap tomorrow. Ells try to bunt for a hit...something that wakes them up early and gets them into the game. They're asleep. Not moving runners...in the wrong places at the wrong time.....etc
  21. Comon' put one up on the board
  22. I don't mind the two losses although the posts tonight are going to be brutal. What I don't like is that this is exactly what they looked like at the end of last season.....exactly. Agons is bounding around second base for some reason....Aviles shows us his hands of stone.....and nobody is hitting. Not even going to start on the pitching. They need to wake up. Wins and losses are one thing....these are no shows!
  23. Wow....where's Iggy.
  24. And just as I hit the reply button.....bang Not sure why he is still out there. Everything he is throwing is up in the zone.
  25. Man I do not like where Josh is throwing the ball at all.
