  1. I bet the Sox wish this was a longer road trip
  2. AGons is so fixated on going the other way that he is easily set up for out pitches on the inner third of the plate and even off the plate. He seems pretty stubborn about this as well. He is looking more and more like a 300 hitter that pitchers can get out when they really need to.
  3. Well the yanks lost their pitching and we never had any...sorta' puts all this crap about the ARods and AGons and Jeters and Pedeys of the world in perspective doesn't it?
  4. God Damn it...I love Pedey but nothing in this world pisses me off like a guy hitting against a pitcher for the very first time on a given night swinging at the very first pitch tossed up there to end the inning. Pedey has not hit against a RH pitcher all night long. Would it be so terrible to take one stinkin' lousy pitch just even to acclimate to the new pitcher's arm angle and the delivery point which oh by the way happens to be from the other side from where you have seen it all night! We need runs.
  5. C'mon Pedey...we need a jack here...
  6. Seriously, there are times when I wonder if there isn't a damned card game goin' on back there.
  7. Lester is supposed to be the #1 pitcher for this team. The 1 is supposed to give you what you need. With the way this outfield plays, this team needed Lester to go out there and really shut down a team like the Royals, not allow a bunch of hard hit balls to get out to that porous outfield. He has not done it. It is not more complicated than that. Harsh I know but that is how it is for the 1. If this was a performance by Buch or Cook or Felix or Bard that would be fine, maybe. But this is short of what it needed to be from our #1 against the lowly Royals. On top of that he is now out of the game with that high pitch count and here comes the pen. We will be "lucky" to win this game from the lowly Royals on a night when we had our 1 going.
  8. Agons back to his usual swinging at the first pitch thrown up there. Does he not think about what is happening on his own at bats. I know he loves to take balls to left field but I would love to see what would happen if he would just give himself a chance to swing at the traditional "pound it outta here" pitch to the LH batter...low on the inner third. He swings at that pitch sometimes but he is never looking for it and usually misses it when he does get one of the few chances he gives himself to swing at a pitch like that.
  9. The fact is Lester shuts down nobody....the Royals have gotten far to much wood on far to many baseballs many of them ending up in our outfield which I will grant you is like swiss cheese. But these our the Royals and they are getting way to much wood on Lester's pitches. As bad as the outfield is, look at how many fly ball put outs have been made...that is just way to many liners headed for the outfield.
  10. Beckett shins so much in this group because he is literally the only one of them that knows HOW to pitch. Lester does not, Buch can't, Doubtront and Bard are just still learning their craft.
  11. Lester Christ....man...you want a few shut down innings in a row and Lester just can't do it....against the Royals.
  12. Sweeney started a little shaky looking and unsure of himself in our RF and I thought Oh boy...here we go again. However I think it just took him some time to get used to RF at Fenway which is a tough field to play. Now he looks like an absolute defensive star when compared to almost any of the Sox outfielders that are playing currently. The biggest shortcoming of the entire Sox outfield core including those that are not playing is arms. We really don't have any good arms in the outfield.
  13. Geez I am so shell shocked...anything to the outfield has my heart in my throat. By the way the Royals are also hitting a good many balls in the air off Lester and not pop ups either.
  14. Funny how things work better for AGons these days when he is not hackin' away at the first pitch he sees.
  15. thank God...good piece of hitting by Agons
  16. I can't believe we are down 3-0 to these chumps. I also can't believe I was afraid to post this while the Royals were still batting.
  17. Well the ump gave Lester that pitch. I suspect if the ump is going to be consistent though Chen will get that pitch as well.
  18. Bad signings...lots of bad signings. Not only are some of the players not as good as their paychecks would suggest but it is all an ill constructed team in that nothing fits together. Baseball IS a game of individual assets more than any other. They don't have to work together so much as they do have to compliment each other and ours do not. It is just a conglomerate of disassociated pieces. Even if guys that are injured were healthy this would still seem to me like a conglomerate of disassociated pieces.
  19. To think that Lester started this season recognizing that he had an "off" year last year relative to expectation and has still come out here this year and been a joke as a 1....again.
  20. I hope the FO understands that WMB to the outfield if that is what it takes to keep him here when Youk comes back is a no brainer. Our outfield is terrible. I don't think WMB could do worse if he has never caught a fly ball before.
  21. Damn it...I am having no luck getting the mental picture of that out of my head.:D
  22. Well I am guessing here but if you remember he went to a lighter bat a few games ago because he thought it would help his bat control and he thought he would be a little quicker on the ball. So far I have not seen any difference in the direction of his foul balls. I could be wrong here because I have not gone and looked at the splits but he seems to be popping up more than usual. I think he is pulling off the ball and his shoulder is flying open. That would certainly contribute to his looking a bit off balance. The lighter bat may not have been such a good idea after all.
  23. Another sterling at bat from AGons
  24. All the starters have sorta' been nip and tuck. Beckett has been the best of the top 3 but just barely. He is one poor outing from making it a situation where you could probably toss a blanket over all five of them and not have a dimes worth of difference between them. Doubront and Bard have probably done a bit more than you would expect from a 4 and 5. Lester and Buch have done way less than what you would expect of a 1 and a 3. Beckett has done pretty good as the 2 I think but is really only one bad start from being pretty damn close to Lester and Buch. On the other hand if Beckett has a good start next time out he puts a lotta' distance between himself and Lester/Buch. Lester really needs a good start here as these guys are chumps that Lester has dominated in previous starts.
  25. I wonder how the Fenway Faithful are going to respond to Beckett tomorrow night since he will be starting at home. Will they boo the pure-t-hell out of him or not as soon as he is announced or not?
