  1. Todd Walker not bad in the booth. Did not listen to him the other night...choosing EEI audio instead. But he does not blather endlessly like Salty and so many of the other analyst stand-ins for Jerry. He is more like Angry Lou only as a TV analyst.
  2. Mitch fooled by the Vargas walking pace FB.
  3. Vargas ...another of the wave of soft tossers trying to make a resurgence and balance out the preponderance of power pitchers in baseball now. Problem is most of the soft tossers CAN"T THROW IT EITHER!
  4. Cora looking for a confidence booster for Beni is my guess. IMO he never was a lead off hitter and isn't one now.
  5. Yup...non-tender if they want to keep him. His Arb number will likely be $10M or more for 2020 and that is just not reasonable IMO.
  6. It isn't if we are going to pitch next year as we have down the stretch this year. If its going to be ERod and pray for 4 days of rain, suddenly an elite defender in CF becomes less valuable compared to a good one with a decent bat. Heck we don't really even know if ERod can repeat 2019 in 2020. We are awash in pitching issues and when a team is awash in pitching issues suddenly these guys that can produce 1 for 25 and 2 for 50 slumps at the plate have a harder time making the case for an elite glove even in CF. JBJ is not and never has been a reliable hitter at the plate or even close to a reliable hitter at the plate and I don't see a way at this point for a guy that has been doing this for a looooooooooong time to change his ways. I would willingly pay 6 per maybe 7 for JBJ and not a dime more. He might not accept that. But that is all I would be offering. 6 is closer to what he might be worth at this point. Then again since nobody can really say or even guess where MLB pitching is going thanks to all of their machinations, maybe keeping the everyday player composition of the team what it is makes as much sense as anything.
  7. IMO the decision has been made for this year. You don't tell the team that Cora is coming back and then find some rational within the last 20 games of the year to change that decision. The result of that would be a WTF Henry and a baseball team that just does not know what to think next.
  8. Not batting for Gorkys was the bigger mistake IMO. Then again, once Corkys failed, you could make the case that regardless of anything else, Cora HAD to PH for ERod.
  9. Well to your point, its not like Beni was the only option on that bench. Holt has not been in this game yet unless I missed him. That would have been a left hand bat and all we really needed was a base hit. Even a sac fly though Holt would likely have gotten a base hit before getting a sac fly.
  10. Great pitching performance ERod....well done. Was basically unhittable.
  11. Acknowledgement from Franco that he cannot see that Change taking ball 3. You will not convince me Franco saw that one any better than he saw the next one.
  12. I did not say anything because I just do not know the situation with Beni. He is struggling mightily. Something like 1 for his last 6 games.
  13. Hitting him is better than having that drift over the plate. That is of course the death curse of the Change...drifting over the plate up.
  14. They just cannot see that Change at all.
  15. Tough pitch to Mitch from a guy that is clearly starting to lose it a bit. Got that pitch to do exactly what he wanted it to do.
  16. Regardless of how he does in this inning this should be Nola's last. He has gone from his pitches flattening out to wild in and out of the strike zone. That can't go on very long.
  17. Nola's pitches are starting to flatten out a bit.
  18. He better not hide that Change one night and forget where he put it.
  19. JD sort of looks like how Joe West would look if they stuck a glove on his hand and put him in the OF.
  20. Worse, he will not call anybody off and goes after nothing aggressively. Just sort of lops around out there. So his mate or mates simply have no idea what JD is doing nor what they should do. Do I pull up? Do I keep going? Am I going to run into JD? IS JD going to run into me? RIDICULOUS!!!
  21. Did not realize that the Phiilies have Nola going on 4 days rest for the remainder of the season. The way ERod throws his Change it is just impossible to hit. Its not even something you can foul off. Changes that bend back (opposite break of the slider) at least give the hitter an angle on the pitch. He won't likely hit it fair but he could foul it off. The Change that just dies all the way to the plate is flat impossible to see and if you can't see it you can't hit it. You could throw your body at that pitch trying to get a HBP AND MISS! That would be embarrassing wouldn't it. Could you just see the hitter looking up from the ground trying to explain that to the ump?
  22. I agree with a poster that mentioned many games ago that ERod really does not move to 1st with any enthusiasm since the leg injury happened trying to make that play. I don't think we will ever see ERod show any enthusiasm to get over there again.
  23. Heck of a play by Franco at 3rd.
  24. 1. Marco Hernandez (L) 2B 2. Xander Bogaerts ® SS 3. Rafael Devers (L) 3B 4. J.D. Martinez ® RF 5. Mitch Moreland (L) 1B 6. Christian Vazquez ® C 7. Jackie Bradley Jr. (L) CF 8. Gorkys Hernandez ® LF 9. Eduardo Rodriguez (L) P 1. Jean Segura ® SS 2. J.T. Realmuto ® C 3. Bryce Harper (L) RF 4. Rhys Hoskins ® 1B 5. Scott Kingery ® CF 6. Cesar Hernandez (S) 2B 7. Adam Haseley (L) LF 8. Maikel Franco ® 3B 9. Aaron Nola ® P OMG....I did not check the lineups as I almost always do. Did not see Gorkys in there. That means we have another shot at an all Hernandez night if DHern gets in there.
