  1. i have been away for a couple days since there is something going on in DC that is just a bit more important to me than two teams going nowhere in a 4 hour battle of futility to see who can stay closest to 500 ball. The dropped foul ball in a vain effort to get to 200 K's is this rancid year of baseball is just the sort of garbage that now I guess passes for MLB baseball...that is Manfred League Baseball. That is all.
  2. Actually anxiety riddled masochists. In my case, I am definitely worried that the surgeon will slip and cut a tendon if not cut Price's hand clean off on Thursday. In fact, I AM SURE OF IT......I need help....I need ...........an off-season.....ahhhhhhhh
  3. Salty saying JD had to swing at the 0-0 pitch. Why was that Salty? That was a crap pitch to hit.
  4. Last game in this dungeon for the year. Thank God. I hate watching games in this place there or on the tube. Doesn't matter.
  5. That ball scooting through the Rays infield was not on Kiermaier. Why was the 2nd baseman trying to hold the bag with his foot? Go get the ball dummy. Its not a force play. Who was backing up the throw...the invisible infielder?
  6. Looking like another premature ejaculation from the Sox offense today.
  7. My God My God My God. Who is that is supposed to pitch for the sox in 2020?
  8. Look at that....flat curve that Meadows even fooled fouls off
  9. Nate's pitches are just too flat. Movement beats straight velo every time. Nate's pitches have plenty of velo but not enough movement. Why do we think Nate can't get anything past anybody!
  10. This is not an informed opinion because I am looking at Weber through the lens of where MLB has taken pitching for at least the last 10 years and I really cannot play one (Weber) off the other (MLB intentions for the last 10 years) in a truly meaningful way. Much more confident about what MLB has been doing to pitching than I am about where Weber has been. That said, Weber at 29 may well have gone almost an entire career simply incapable of generating what MLB was looking for from pitching....that being heat. While "Gas Grill" is now part of a wave of junkers that is part of one of the things that makes baseball ....baseball, the natural tendency to course correct even when powerful influences are trying to manipulate it in a certain direction. At 29, probably too late for Weber. I like watching him pitch. I will give him that. His ball breaks a foot and he throws strikes. But at 29 and not more than a relief pitcher I am not real convinced he has much of a future other than bouncing around in what has become a cesspool of rotten MLB pitching.
  11. The big market, big money teams MIGHT and I do mean might be able to deal with this mess better as they might have the resources to simply buy up the remaining decent MLB pitching. That does not change the basic problem. MLB pitching is and has been headed straight into the crapper. Witness the woeful ERA's pitchers are generating pitching v AAA hitting. Add to that the simple fact that baseball is institutionalizing this nonsense by creating terms to define these bums: - Opener - now Featured Pitcher (the bum that follows the Opener who is also a BUM) And I am more inclined to believe MLB is going to ride this horse right into the grave as opposed to trying to turn it away from the grave. If they tried to turn it away from the grave today, it would likely be something like 3-5 years before we would see any results from that effort.
  12. Get used to it. No reason to think MLB 2020 pitching will be any better and every reason to believe it will be worse. We want to keep looking at this through the lens of the Sox which is natural because we are in the main Sox fans and its our team. But this is an enterprise-wide problem which MLB has in large part brought on itself.
  13. Booth guys talking about how the A's simply are not losing anything anymore. While I thought getting Olson back was big and Davis coming back from an injury followed by a maternity leave or something personal business or another was big...IMO it was Manaea coming back as Manaea that gave them a huge lift. He did not not come back having to work in or anything like that. He was Sean Manaea immediately. That was like trading for a top of the line pitcher without giving up any of your team and it was like the A's were shot out of a cannon.
  14. Extras ...of course....why would I have doubted it....EVER
  15. That one belongs to V-man if I am not mistaken.
  16. Then Benni can become Denny. The match to the restaurant with a similar name should not be hard to miss.
  17. They should go back to the 2016 official baseball. It was already a juiced baseball and IMO did a reasonable job of providing more offense without simply raping the game itself. The 2018 was over the top and this 2019 ball is over over the top. I can't think of a more fitting description than over over the top. My vocabulary skills fail me with regard to this abortion.
  18. I would say that MLB should work to get rid of these rocket ship baseballs, not try to invent BS to put around them.
  19. Most of them should go all the way back to the Instructional League and start over again....sort of like a board game.
  20. While the three point line worked to open up the floor as basketball players playing inside got larger and more agile, I don't see the two run line in baseball being very practical.
  21. "Wow..was that HR worth more than one run? I mean it went so far." " Ah no." "OK...next batter."
  22. Kiermier...hot dog...can't help himself. wimpiest, most phony baloney leap for a catch maybe in the history of the game.
  23. Oh yea...way highest number of pitches on the season and per game. Had thrown 800 more pitches than any other MLB team by sometime in early August of this season....August....800 more pitches. No telling how much above every other team they are now....certainly more than 800 more, probably closer to a 1,000 more by now.
  24. There is no bigger joke around baseball all teams than the laughing stock of pitchers coming up out of AAA, whether at the start of a season, middle of it or Sept call-ups. If MLB tries to sweep that under the rug, they are just putting their head in the sand and acting like a sports enterprise that is just going to ride this mess right into the grave.
  25. Now you got to go hunting, pecking and poking for the games until you find them. NESN, NESN+, Fox, TBS, MLB, ESPN. All the HD alternatives which are really the only way to get watchable video even on a huge display. The whole thing is an utter fiasco. Taking the NESN audio tonight. They have tamed their act since it finally became obvious to them that the Sox 2019 edition was GOING NOWHERE!
