  1. What a f***ing let down of a game. Abused by Happ. Lester/Dickey tomorrow. Hopefully Dickey does not make them look like Looney Tunes baseball taking all three swings at one pitch before it gets to home plate.
  2. Strain covers a lotta' ground when announced this soon after the injury...how severe...who knows...they don't even know at this point. Hopefully it is really mild and something he can come back from quickly. We all know how the Sox handle these early injury announcements though...they are designed to keep people buying tickets. "Ortiz will be back in a week or two" etc etc. If a Sox player dropped dead of a heart attack on the field, the announcement would be "suffered a case of indigestion....back after an off day". If they are smart they are working on figuring out a Plan C.
  3. Well Ace is not an answer. That is why it rankled me a bit to hear him spoken of in that context. Ace sucks...period. Should have bounced his ass already. Webster is not SP depth either and neither is Morales healthy or not. IMO, they either find a way to make a move they don't. or Lackey's injury is a strain...I think that is likely too much to hope for though.
  4. They f***ed themselves all up trying to guess with Happ. Bad scouting report or bad scouting job or something like that. If they just sat dead red and went with the pitch they should have been able to do something with him. But they fell right into his trap all be it a well laid one.
  5. Man they are taking Napoli to the woodshed so far this year. He has the one bomb but is vying with Salty for swings through most FB's
  6. They got money under the cap. Make a move...do something...they have made all kinds of moves to make us believe this is some sort of a season. I think it will be a fun year no matter what happens but make a move if you have to.
  7. What a surprise...another Ace meatball...they are becoming the stuff of legend.
  8. If Lackey is gone I would prefer plan C whatever it is to plan B.
  9. Strain would be the very very best scenario.
  10. I hate to say it but he was afraid to move anything by the time he was walking back to the dugout. Knock me over with a feather if his season didn't just end. Major surgery is a very iffy proposition for older pitchers. Lotta' miles on an older pitcher's arm. Even if you don't get the same injury, there are stresses elsewhere in the arm from throwing after the repair and rehab. TJ as initially envisioned was not designed to allow pitchers to pitch at a professional level again but to allow them to lead a normal life after baseball. It was not till Tommy John started to throw for fun again that he decided to try it and the rest is history.
  11. That actually looks like more than a blip. Something let go.
  12. Oh s*** no...what the f***
  13. Even though Ciriaco made out there that was exactly what I want them doing. Get a FB and take it back the way it came.
  14. Oh Crap...Now if he is going to start mixing this breaking s*** and gets it over forget about it...Jurrjens II.
  15. Now they have been swinging at everything. That was a horrible at bat by Ross and a horrible last half by the Sox at the plate.
  16. So much for Eck's theory of the crowded Roger's causing the balls to CF to carry. The ball just carries to center here. I still think they have the blowers going full blast for the Jays at bats. If they are stealing signs I would not put anything past these f***ers.
  17. Nuther straight change K for Happ. Come on Sox. He is pitching a good game though.
  18. Napoli trying to pull that outer third FB. Sox should not be making themselves vulnerable to that change. Just have to hit smarter against this guy.
  19. Well the Sox are being patient in one way but not as yet taking advantage. They should just take the ball back the way it comes in. He has surprised some of the RH hitters throwing that turkey on the inner half and beaten them throwing it on the outer third. He has moved the ball around. I will give him that. But the Sox are seeing flat FB's up and they are just not doing anything with them so far. He has thrown enough of them that they should be sitting FB and take the outer third pitch to RF and pull the inside pitch. Easier said than done but that thing is flat and up. Lackey has thrown more effectively in my opinion.
  20. Happ is beating us so far with that s*** FB...that is a disappointment. It is flat and lifeless even at 94...no movement. Should be meat.
  21. Happ is not only a LH pitcher but he is a lefty with a suspect FB. He cannot throw it inside to RH hitters without getting it crushed. His "fooled you" set up to RH hitters is something we saw from JJ last night on occasion. Happ will set you up with the curve inside and down, trying to get you to chase it into the dirt. Then he will come back and freeze you with what you think is the curve headed for the dirt again. Only this time it is the slider that stays up off the ground and gets him the called strike with the hitter unable to pull the trigger. So Happ must stay off the inner half with his FB and must get his breaking/offspeed stuff to work for him to succeed. If he can't do that the bases should look like a pinball machine in the Sox half. He is one of these guys that if on would have made last years impatient Sox look ridiculous quite unexpectedly like Jurrjens did. However if this edition of the Sox remains patient at the plate, they could have some fun.
  22. Sorry about that...read it wrong....thought it was middle top 10. But just to be clear, I don't think he is middle ten either as I explained in my post. Maybe he could hold onto a middle 10 status for two weeks in a pinch but season long....not for my money.
  23. Two super fun games to watch in two days...Lackey today followed by Lester/Dickey tomorrow.
  24. Not to overlook today's (Saturday) game cause how can we overlook the first regular season game for Lackey but Sunday, we get Lester vs Dickey. That should be fun also.
  25. No I do not think Ceriaco could hang with the top 10. Ceriaco suffers from the same malady that stops most AAA ballplayers or AA ball players that make it to AAA from success in the ML. He can't hit curve balls. Smokes FB's but so does every hot super high school ballplayer that ever lived. He plays decent enough defensive SS. Made Aviles look like a shovel with a glove stuck on the end of it but that ain't hard to do. While we all like to hammer FO's everywhere for being dolts, as well as believing your eyes you have to believe there is a reason why Ceriaco is a perenial AAA toiler. He is a good backup. He is a guy that can hold down a #1 spot for a couple weeks....his upside is 0. I would love to have him on my bench and would think that if Iggy works out, Drew would be extraneous as long as you have Cerioaco. I really like him cause he absolutely punishes fast balls and I love any hitter who can punish anything. But he gets exposed if he hangs out there in the lineup everyday for too long.
