  1. WMB's HR was pure. Nava's was another CF Roger's bash. We are going to have to come up with a name for these things. A Roger's Rocket......maybe....too long. A Roginator????...that might work.
  2. Don't think it was the same post but definitely the same thread (Cer vs Cir). Send him back to AAA....jung can't spell his name.:D
  3. This (Lester) is the best pitching performance we have seen since the season started either side, IMO. I choose to ignore Happ yesterday as a case of bad scouting or something. The Sox approach to him was totally wrong and they paid for it.
  4. I had not noticed I had typed Morcom in a previous post and I tend to scan. Did not even see much less acknowledge the misspellings in the Sox pitchers names till much later.
  5. Anybody know what injury is holding "Bats" out of the lineup?
  6. Hey the Sox constructed that rotation. I can no longer tell what decision will be defended or attacked here. Put a smily face on it or something. We do have our "can do no wrong crowd" to consider.
  7. Hey if we had Dickey and he pitches like this at least the Fenway faithful would have a new target in the middle of the mound to hate. Without Beckett we need somebody to yell at.:D
  8. Did I type Morcom...sorry
  9. Oh come on. The first thing we thought of was Ace is really the guy that will be called on if Lackey can't go. You really want to see Ace out there starting games. Ya' gotta be kidding me. Huge huge dif between starting and relieving and Ace is now suspect as a reliever!
  10. Dickey is still leaving so many balls up that the Sox are just waiting for that one and jumping all over it.
  11. Well lets not go to overboard on posters. Morcom would have likely been worth a gamble given the lack of ST pitching depth on this team. Heran may have even been worth it. The Sox tried to pull JJ out of the three player deal and it did not work. Then again, the Jays wanted Reyes and the Sox saw Reyes as the poison pill in that deal. Reyes not looking like much of a poison pill yet. The season is young though and we all know how quick the dunce cap can show up on ballplayers that are prone to it. Certainly glad they passed on Dickey. Never wanted to see him in a Sox uni. Besides we likely would have stormed down there and tarred and feathered somebody for giving up what the Mets were asking for him.
  12. Notice how Cabrera runs without any oil in those joints....looks like an old man trying to gimp around out there. That body probably won't like this carpet.
  13. We are just not used to seeing a guy Nava's size at 1st. Glove makes him look like a little leaguer....junior division.
  14. The problem in AL East is in fact the parks combined with the teams. A knuckler often has an inning in a game where it just sits there right in the middle of the plate or up as it just did for Dickey in the first inning. Also there are days outside where the wind is blowing hard and in an unfavorable direction for his pitch. Knucklers are very vulnerable when it is not working. In the AL East you could be what the Jays are now...down 5 from one bad inning and not even that many pitches. Anybody can be down 5 from one bad inning but the knuckler is particularly helpless to do anything about it. Dickey clearly had one major problem in that first inning so he was able to adjust. More often than not the knuckle ball pitcher can do nothing more than keep throwing it and hope the thing stops finding the middle of the plate and bats. Maybe one of the most impressive things about Wake was that he did have many of these. He was rarely able to go deep into games but he could keep that thing dancing for 5-6 innings almost every time out.
  15. There were a few....we will rue the day comments I think because the Jays had already proven that they were going all in and Dickey looked like another piece to the puzzle. Clearly there is a monster dif trying to hit that knuckler down in the zone than when it is up anywhere. Dickey with a much better inning 2.
  16. Starting it lowing...finishing lower
  17. Dickey looks like he does not have an idea what to do about this and he probably doesn't. Although I guess you could argue that he is starting that thing way up to begin with to finish as high in the zone as his pitch is finishing.
  18. Atta boy Iggy.
  19. I was surprised when we had Talksoxer's chiding the FO for letting Dickey make it to the Jays. I don't think we should rue that decision at all. That said, that was about the worst pitching for a one inning stretch by any knuckler I can remember. Of course that there are few of them left, adds to his uniqueness and provides less opportunity for us to critique them. Wright does not impress me as AL East ready either.
  20. And those two pitches to Salty especially the first were in about the worst place you could put them to a LH power hitter.
  21. Cabrera...what a stiff....Dickey's pitches are all up except for the one to Pedey. As I have tried to explain Up is bad. Don't care where it is unless it is the rising FB with plenty of juice behind it, Up is bad.
  22. Pedey is such a good guy to have in the 3 hole. Great piece of hitting to get the run home.
  23. Dickey starts up in the zone with the knuckler. Sox taking advantage so far. Two on nobody out.
  24. It is not that unusual for a pitcher to use ice between innings. I am torn on the lack of reaction to Lackey's discomfort on the mound. We all comment here that Lackey will not complain, will not fail to take the ball and will not give up the ball unless dragged kicking and screaming from the mound. It would have to have fallen off for him to have stopped. They have to know this if we do. I think at least a visit from Nieves was called for.
  25. Lackey is on the way back for an MRI. I suspect whatever trauma there was will be down in intensity by the time he gets the MRI. So the information they get off it should be good. That should tell the Sox a good deal about when they can get Lackey back.
