  1. Well at least the A's waste ass-hat Colon and we get to clear Ace.
  2. Ump apparently has no idea where Wright's ball is going
  3. I was just thinking about how ridiculous this is Bell...it certainly looks ridiculous. Wake up Uncle Bud.
  4. Youk unless I read his post wrong I think he was referring to a more direct relationship between pitching and hitting. IMO it is not a direct relationship. You don't hit poorly because you are pitching poorly. Your hitting is effected because you are behind in the game. You can pitch poorly and not be behind in the game.
  5. It is not quite so much the quality of hitting following the quality of pitching although there is a relationship. It is just much more difficult to play from behind...particularly to feel loose and confident at the plate hitting when you are behind and the reverse is true when you are ahead. Playing from behind can have an impact on how your offense is configured as well as there are just things you will not do playing from behind.
  6. Not suggesting that I know more than Farrell as that would be a truly ridiculous suggestion but this is in part why I would like somebody besides Mortenson able to go more than one inning. It is the getting up every day that whips out a relief pitcher....even if he does not come into game...warming every day is even taxing.
  7. And as usual when things are not to Ace's liking...here comes the meatballs. That was right down the pipe and fortunately not swung at
  8. Oh my God.....when he loses focus....it makes you wonder if he is ever much focused on what he is doing in the first place
  9. Nicely done Ace...where the hell were you.
  10. Well that sucked.....putting guys on via the walk seems to always come back to get you
  11. According to NESN Ace's favorite "hobey" is cooking. Glad he has a hobey but I think he would want a hobby.
  12. When you guys refer to problems getting games with mlb.tv, do you mean blackouts?
  13. You are right...down to a 20% chance of rain Wednesday PM.
  14. I wonder if they would play this game tonight if it were not for the forecasts for much more rain tomorrow night.....at least the last ones I saw.
  15. Remy with a bit of a slip that he probably does not even know he made proclaims to the world "I love sheep" referring to a kid in the grandstands with a sheep hat. Really Jerry.
  16. Aceves background as a relief pitcher may help him in 1st innings. SPer's are often vulnerable in 1st innings. I don't think he has had a bad first inning yet. Although I don't think Miller could repeat that feat.
  17. Orsillo needs to shut up now. Colon should never be in the same sentence with Pedro and Juan.
  18. Somehow Colon's jersey does not look right without Phils Plumbing and Heating across the back....apologies to Phils that are plumbers everywhere.
  19. Ortiz is not in the lineup again tonight. I wonder if the cold, damp weather is bothering his heel more than it would otherwise. Frankly I think this is just the way it is going to be with his heel like it is. If his Achilles goes that is an entirely different issue. At his age that might be career ending. They have never gone into any definition of the heel issue. However he seems to be able to go a few days on it depending on how much and how hard he runs and then it must start throbbing considering what happens after that. His ability to hit like he does getting into the lineup and then not is really something.
  20. Oh the humanity!
  21. It really does not matter what AGons and Crawford do in LA. They were not on a path to do it here. While AGons BB numbers are back up and feeding into his OBP and he is still a doubles machine, he has never recovered his HR power. He is hitting them at a rate of about 1 every 9games. That is slightly better than the 1 every 10 game path he was on in Boston after the 2011 AS game and in LA last year. Even if he stays on the slightly better rate, that is far below what his expectations were and what his salary suggests. Plus every time he opened his mouth it would be like chalk on a blackboard for Boston fans. His act probably gets a little more mileage out there. Crawford appears to have turned it around at least at the plate. However I don't think he would have here.
  22. WMB must have been thrilled to see something he could actually hit last night. It has been awhile. However Griffin must either be a complete dolt or just could not throw the ball where he wanted to as the pitch to WMB was in the absolute without doubt worst place he could throw it. I suspect based on the overall performance Griffin put in, he just could not throw to locations last night. It has to help WMB to know he can still kill a mistake pitch though. He has to be working on his hitting problems and he is so young.....time is surely on his side. Plus he is improving in the field and I do not expect the Sox to try to bring somebody to challenge for his job. Let him continue to develop as a player.
  23. The number of ballplayers completely flaunting MLB including Colon is in all likelihood what finally forced their hand on the issue of in season or all season testing. Reportedly Biogen alone has over one hundred MLB players on its client roles. Apparently this has forced the PA and MLB to the table to "negotiate" who is going to be suspended. The League apparently does not think it can suspect one hundred players. The real problem is more likely that the number of users in MLB is probably well past one hundred and closer to some number that would have organizations pulling players form A ball just to field a team. They could probably suspend one hundred players but can't really suspend as many as they would have to in order to capture up all the users. I think it would be safe to say that as opposed to the situation getting the least bit better all these years, PED use has just evolved and is for the most part much more sophisticated than it was. Arod apparently is going to turn out to be an embarrassment of epic proportions. Guys like Colon and probably even Braun are not far behind. If I had to bet I would say Colon will likely be allowed to play until we end up with a whole bucket of suspensions handed down at once including Colons. I wonder if the funk the Jays are in is a result of a number of those players knowing their season and their team is about to be blown to smithereens in an avalanche of suspensions. That will likely go over like a two ton bag-o-s*** if that is really what is going on up there. The real problem for MLB may be how the heck do they come out of this with even a shred of credibility left and do they forgive just about everybody to keep from crippling MLB teams.
  24. Good night A's....you be losin' Sox have won every series opener so far this season.
