  1. Next time I don't think Cain will faint. I think he will punch Gordon's lights out. You could see it on Cain's face as he was on the way to the ball. He could see Gordon coming and was already freaking out.
  2. Gordon does it again....unreal...what a tool
  3. Nice play WMB....seriously even with the choppy play on the base paths, I seriously doubt Guthrie can keep the Royals in it. We should pummel him senseless.
  4. Running into outs disease.
  5. He's throwing BP tonight
  6. Those were his glory days Youk and he did not have many of those.
  7. Guthrie is fortunately not Santana. Santana can be the kind of guy that starts out unable to keep the ball down or in any kind of a good location then settle and go dominant like he did in game 1. This guy does not have that kind of potential. He can go from putrid to OK or just stay putrid but he is not going to go dominant on us, not at this point in his career.
  8. At least Perez is not in this game. We don't play this team again until August. Some weird, strange virus needs to attack that guy between now and then.
  9. Man traffic and parking must be impossible for these twi-night DH's.
  10. Dempster got out-pitched by Irvin Santana. Santana is neither God nor the Devil either but he did out-pitch Dempster. That is really the definition of pitching "good enough to lose". You pitch pretty good but you get out-pitched by the other guy. Santana's was a dominent performance this afternoon. Once he found the bottom of strike zone, the Sox really could not touch him. I don't expect to see any dominant performances out of Dempster this season. That at least IMO is not what he at this point in his career. So he is going to get out-pitched on occasion. I expect him to go out there and do his steady Eddy thing. Sometimes that is going to be good enough and sometimes not.
  11. Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer, dead! Saltamachia, DEAD!
  12. This is such an incredibly interesting season. You could argue (for fun) that game 1 today saw us fall victim to the worst aspects of our offseason signings. Gomes has clearly been the signing that we would most question....Nancy Drew was second to Gomes even before today......Dempster is neither God nor the Devil but is pitching just good enough to lose. For a side dish, Vic who has been fantastic is injured forcing Nava to RF and (Heaven Help us) Gomes to LF. Bring on Webster....honestly baseball really does not get any better than what we have been treated to even if the Sox had not been winning the bulk of these games.
  13. Lucky break on strike 1 to Gomes
  14. Nancy Drew Jr....ouch....multiple metaphorical connotations at play...poor Steven
  15. RF is a lotta' territory for Nava. LF is his spot. Outside of left and ....Meh
  16. In any event Salty should just have been taking there anyway...a walk is run and the guy can't find the plate. Often catchers become coaches....I predict that is NOT in Salty's future. Then again whether or not he is a catcher is debatable.
  17. LH low ball hitters (like Salty) are always livin' on the edge. A couple inches higher and the ball is in their sweet spot and going into orbit or ........the pitch dips that last couple of critical inches and...the dreaded d-mac dribbler.
  18. That thumb is really a problem for Pedey. I was hoping it would not turn out to be one of those things he would have to deal with for the remainder of his career. But it does not appear to take much to get that thing throbbing again and this is exactly how Pedey was hitting the last time it was hurting.
  19. I have seen outfielders make a mistake as far as who is going to catch a ball is concerned but what the hell is wrong with Gordon??? Is he nuts. That ball belongs to the CF. Shut up and go back to your position. Jeez we have so many self centered nut bags in baseball these days.
  20. I don't think comparing Dempster to Beckett makes any sense. Dempster was not brought here to replace Beckett. They are two different pitchers and Dempster hit FA at a point when pitchers could get that kinda' money on a relatively short term deal. Dempster is right now pitching just good enough to lose. It is not a coincidence that if the score stays the same through 9, Dempster will have recorded his 2nd lose against no wins while Buch and Lester have 7 wins and one no decision in a game eventually won by the Sox. Again I think the scouting reports have been just about dead on for Dempster. He was not a bad acquisition for the Sox. We might be putting too much on him cause we did not bring in anybody else to the rotation with him. That is not his fault. He has been just about as advertised if not a little better than that.
  21. They may not see Chen. Would you take Santana out on that half inning's performance
  22. Drew is lost right now
  23. and that is a very accurate reflection of where he is as a pitcher. He has got to stay away from the belt line with his pitches. On days when he cannot, get out the bandaids for him. On days when he can, get out the bandaids for the other guys. This day is sort of down the middle as we have seen both sides of Dempster today.
  24. Dempster deserves to still be in this game. Remember they have another to play later today and they are behind in this one. If he gets into trouble he will likely be out of this game quickly though
  25. I don't know if expectations are that Ortiz would not pound around the bases today, tomorrow or 100 days from tomorrow though. I don't think he will be running the way he ran last year for the remainder of his career.
