  1. Eck is a very nice change from Remy. I think Eck would be hard pressed to make it through the 162. Maybe he is the Napoli of the broadcast world.
  2. I am convinced now that Ueh is actually a magician, not a pitcher. The ball mysteriously disappears somewhere around home plate and reappears in the catcher' mitt. No rational to Ueh living on the stuff he throws up there but he does it. Gotta' be magic.
  3. Jim-Ed will never make it to the broadcast booth I think. They had him as a guest analyst I think during that stretch where Remy was going through some additional testing, health related....Anyway it was pretty bad......Eck is not great in the broadcast booth either but he is wayyy better than Rice in that role.
  4. As Jim Rice accurately pointed out...the WMB shot was a wind aided shot to Center pushed by that gail that was blowing out there up and out to Right Center. I will take the runs though.
  5. Not like Miller has been the linchpin to the pen but him coming around like he did when he did has really bolstered them at a real low point.
  6. Miller pitching to RH hitters....How things can change in a month.
  7. I think there is something to comments some made about Nava battling a nagging wrist injury last year. Whatever he has done..gotten healthy, put on some added muscle mass....just reached a physical peak however late I don't ever recall his bat speed being as good as it appears to be this year. He has always been a very good ballplayer.....knows how to play the game...always a little shy of physical ability. He is still kinda' slow in the outfield. His bat speed seems way better than I have ever seen it on a consistent basis.
  8. about 99% of Lavs AB's fall into the following categories: 1-GB 2-K 3- hit right at somebody
  9. WMB's defense has improved tremendously in one off season as well. Both made giant strides on one off season. I think it was Nava that went out to Arizona to work out with Pedey. Don't think he was the only one that did that.
  10. Lavs tries to take it outta' here. Maybe one of the few ways he can catch a break. Just hit it over everybody.
  11. Love the way Nava goes to the plate. He does have an impact when he gets some time in the lineup.
  12. Seldom hear a GM admitting that they f***ed up but Twinkies GM did last year regarding Ortiz.
  13. Lavarnway was so well set, I thought there was a chance the runner was just going to bounce off of him. Did anybody see if the runner actually ever got to the plate?
  14. Pedey with the glove again...he is as much of an assassin with that thing as he is with the bat. Way to hang on Lavarnway. Really not sure what the Twins were thinking. It is not like a run was going to get them tied up or anything. Did they think Pedey would be napping????....Fat chance of that.
  15. More and more it seems like if the hitters are patient with Mortenson, he will eventually burp out something juicy to hit.
  16. Just the bat SR...really odd I do think it might have come off the bat and dribbled off the back of his leg after but the ball did not hit anything else before the bat or simultaneously with the bat.
  17. Saw a ball hit Manny's bat like that years ago. Strange sight
  18. This will be a tough stretch for the pen. No Miller tonight I would guess except for maybe one LH hitter. Mortenson probably comes out to start the inning. Hope he can finish it.
  19. Glad Morneau missed that one. That was more of a meatball than Dempster threw in over 4 innings of struggling.
  20. He did grind tonight. A good many guys would have just thrown in the towel out of frustration and tossed meatball after meatball up there. Can't be much more of an example of a pitcher just trying to get by on toughness. Six walks in 4 and 2/3's is not exactly what you would see from a pitcher that has it goin' on.
  21. Farrell must be giving him just one more batter here I would think.
  22. Did not see that....came back to the TV too late and just saw him getting tagged. Thanks SR.
  23. Can't tell from TV if this was the case but it is not at all uncommon for the runner to try to draw the throw away from an effort to catch the runner at home when there are two outs. Sox would value the run at this point more than continuing the inning with two outs and this much of a lead. There is a good chance that is what happened on the WMB play at 3rd. Also the kind of call a 3rd base coach would make.
  24. I do agree that was an accidentally productive AB by Ortiz. However they were way of the charts the other way just a week or two ago.
  25. Slowly but surely it seems the Sox are going back to the offensive approach they had earlier in the season. I suspect it is very likely that Farrell either talked to them individually or collectively as this is just to different to just be coincidence. Hopefully getting RBI's from somebody other than Ortiz is not some sort of aberration.
