  1. This a bad bad place to see Jones. If he gets motivated around getting a hit he is very hard to turn into an out.
  2. Devers is pretty funny to watch at the plate. If its actually a decent pitch to hit, he is out of his shoes, laces busted, belt flying off his waist..the whole nine. Then there are these awful pitches that he just can't resist that he probably would undress himself swinging at if he could. But the pitches are so bad he just can't. Ah to be young again!
  3. No, but he was darned close to it. That is one thing....He is going to have to get a little more selective at the plate. He swings at stuff that Yogi would not swing at and if Yogi would not swing at it, thats saying something.
  4. Devers has made buckets of progress in the field from where he was at the start of the season when he was just a mass of bad habits. The only way to make that much progress in that many fielding areas that quickly is to be talented, hard working and willing to take instruction unlike somebody else we know. Really bodes well for his future. Probably suggests he will become a more consistent and better hitter as well.
  5. At least Mookie is back. Wright games are always fun to watch too.
  6. And as much as we miss Mookie and love how he plays, an offense that fields Beni, XB, Devers, nunez and JD can't just fall apart because Mookie is not there. We are splitting home stands with the likes of the Tigers and WS. They have to pick up their game because Mookie not being there can't be an excuse. Mookie not being there does not cause the rest of them to play lousy baseball or it shouldn't. That sounds like Celtics Green teamer horse bleep.
  7. What we really needed for this pen was Smith not to blow up and we need Thornburg to come back. Barnes is fine. Just not what we need where Cora now uses him every time out.
  8. I said three weeks ago that Barnes should not be used in these high leverage situations. More recently I have said he has shown some confidence since Smith went down. But what does that tell you? Barnes felt exposed in the bullpen with Smith coming around, like he was the guy exposed by a returning Carson Smith that was coming on. So he goes from that to pitching in high leverage almost every time out. I don't think so.
  9. Boy this was a bad bad game all around except for the starter really. Moreland was putrid. The lineup was as some have described it too cute once again. We don't have many weapons at the moment. No timely hitting. Careless AB's. So the lineup matters.
  10. Cora just let Barnes take us out of the game. That is what I don't get about the way Cora uses him. It will take a miracle now.
  11. Barnes was doing well lately for Barnes. But honestly, he is always one stint away from one of these. He is what he is. Not awful really. Not sure why Cora has so much confidence in him though as he keeps throwing him in critical parts of games. That is what I would not be doing with Barnes.
  12. I will say this for JBJ. At least he was back to stepping into every swing again. He is not mixing in the double toe tap on some swings or using it on any swings now. Going back to that toe tap was a bad bad decision no matter how noisy the swing he is using here. At least he has half a chance with this swing. Lord only knows what other part of his swing is about to fall apart on him though. Unlike JD who's swing is always in a state of repair and refinement, JBJ's is always in some form of disrepair, waiting for it to fall apart completely.
  13. Swihart should bat from the right side no matter who is pitching. That LH swing now is pure misery. Makes my eyes burn.
  14. "Oh ho ho ho....Jackie was looking for a HR on that swing" says Eck. Please.....can barely keep from throwing up as it is.
  15. Look at that. Look at how far Mitch is over into 2nd base territory on that replay. That is just ridiculous and that is the run we are behind by now. Still no comment from the NESN guys who have clearly gone to the YES NETWORK school of baseball broadcasting in the off season, along with the production crew.
  16. I am sure I am not telling you anything. But if this exact team gets to the post season, nobody but nobody will pitch to JD unless Cora protects him with somebody.
  17. Thought that was the case. Mitch did not look like he was humping it out of the batters box and once it was off the wall he had to decide if he should try it with JD hitting behind him. Don't know where Mitch's head is today. Its not in this game.
  18. I am absolutely fine with Holt. Swihart needs to be so gone its not even funny. Does he not either see on video or feel how much top hand is in that LH swing now? I don't know what to do with JBJ. He is getting hit by pitches so much because everybody and everybody's wife and Brother-in-law knows that he simply cannot get to pitches on the inner half. Heck he often won't even swing at perfect pitches for LH hitters. Devers is making progress. He is just sooooooo young and that is not his fault.
  19. My God..Swihart's swing has disintegrated into nothing. It is actually hard to see if JBJ's swing is actually worse than Swihart's or not. Swi is just not even swinging at the ball. He is poking the bat out there into the hitting zone. Might even be doing it with a loop in his swing. Way wayyyy too much top hand. Just awful.
  20. Thanks both of you guys. I could not tell exactly though I was pretty sure that was the case. God forbid our crack broadcast crew, any of the three of them would have raised his hand and said Mitch should have let Holt field that. I am sort of tired of getting nothing from the NESN broadcast team even when Eck or Remy are in there. That play needed to be called out for the pile of garbage it was.
  21. I can't tell. But wasn't that ball over in Holt territory, not Moreland territory. Why didn't Moreland just stay home?
  22. Come on X...get this guy
  23. Love those Monster doubles.
  24. 14th out of 15th in runs scored probably not helping the WS much.
  25. I know this is off topic. But did you guys see that Toyota Truck commercial. They actually had the nuts to put a branded Chevy truck in the commercial using it as an example of a "Mall Terrain" vehicle as it nudged its way over a speed bump and then went to the Toyota truck bounding over what looked like Western US desert terrain. I don't own anything from either brand. So I don't have a dog in the fight. That seemed pretty ballsy to me though.
