  1. I still think the Sox LH hitting corp will get its hacks tonight and pull through.
  2. For one thing the Sox med staff probably has some anti-inflammatory coursing through JD's system. He might want to be out there with that. But I would not want him out there with guys throwing 90+ around his head with that.
  3. Well back spasm's are muscle spasms. it does not describe anything other than a muscle in spasm. Its not a tendon or a ligament. Its a muscle. Assuming they are telling us the truth in calling it a back spasm there are not a whole lot of reasons for that. There are lots of other back ailments you can have and some of them would case a back spasm. But there just is not a whole lot of range of variable if you have a back spasm.
  4. Sale's Slider has had that floaty little hump right in the middle of it this year. That is maybe the most disconcerting thing about his pitching so far this year.
  5. Sox LH hitting corp has been pretty decent lately with a couple of notable holes. Hopefully they come though tonight.
  6. All of us that suffer with back ailments know that a back spasm is indicative of a problem other than the spasm itself. A back spasm is literally the muscles of your back trying to pull the vertebra off a disc or a nerve. The actual issue is more often than not a question of what is causing the vertebra to be pinching either the disc or a nerve, not the back spasm itself. A back spasm is generally an effect, not a cause. Not surprised this has turned out to be more of an issue than the Sox had hoped. Hopefully it all calms down without requiring anything more than more rest to get the inflammation down and to get the muscles to let go. However a simple day off being enough would have been a surprise.
  7. We might be in for an unhealthy dose of this lineup without JD in it.
  8. Your trolling. In fact you would be trolling in the regular forum as well. I repeat, does not belong in the game thread. Not now, not yesterday, not tomorrow.
  9. a) Baseball forum internet etiquette everywhere I have been is no trolling game threads unless your team is playing our team. Unless you have shifted allegiance to the Tigers, we are not playing your team tonight. That was Beeks first ML start. Whether or not they were showcasing him is in question. But if they were, claiming that start as a failed effort to showcase him was flat ignorant. Either you are being purposefully trollish or you just don't know any better. In any event, a post like that does not belong in the game thread. You do not belong in the game thread unless your team is playing our team.
  10. Oh come on. That rot should not be in a game thread. Save it for the regular forum. Geez do you ever give up? Actually I am sure the answer is no.
  11. One time either last year or the year before that, Iggy's first baseman bailed him out on a hideous throw and the guy smiled and just patted his chest like "love ya' teammate". If you could read lips you could see Iggy tell him to f-off looking like he would as soon piss on the guy. The guy was so not surprised by that. He just grinned back and doubled over a bit laughing as if to say "yup...thats the Iggy I know".
  12. Every team ends up with 2/5 starters convalescing at some point in the season. We already have one. I am thinking the Sox are not hot to move Johnson or Valazquez into the rotation for any extended periods and wanted to know what they had in Beeks. Just based on what Beeks learned tonight I would not call this a write off. At least the Sox likely feel they have another option in Beeks. Not sure I would try him as a relief pitcher up here. Can never have enough pitching. But you do want to have some idea of what you have before you are making decisions. Will knock me over with a feather if we are not down to as far as 3 of our opening day starters at some point this season if not worse.
  13. Beeks probably needs all four of those pitches. Thats the lesson he takes from this outing IMO.
  14. Glad we got a chance to see that Change. If you are going to take a beating your first time out, you should at least learn something from it. He is getting a real lesson at least. But he probably learned enough from that last batter to make it worthwhile. If the Sox score some runs he might feel better about things.
  15. That was a nice change. He just does not have enough stuff to not use his whole arsenal it would appear.
  16. Enough is enough I think Mr Manager.
  17. Too much plate kid...just too much plate. His pitches at least have better stuff.
  18. Hoping Beeks blanks them here as much as anything just to see what the rest of the team does.
  19. Come on swi..lift the kid up
  20. There are some side benefits here. Sort of like the benefits the State Dept gets from having a foreign aid program. Lets see if the team rallies around Beeks and tries to pull his butt out of the fire.
  21. I would bring him out for the 3rd with the shortest leash in the history of ML baseball. Then again if he throws up in the dugout, I might change my mind.
  22. I think Cora is just trying to get him through an inning with no runs and that will likely be it for Beeks under the circumstances.
  23. Had victor frozen if he could have gotten that over the plate.
  24. Come on kid...get outta' this
  25. He surely could be another Sprowl. We will light a candle for him and hope he can actually pitch. Funny how much Sprowl looked the part didn't he?
