  1. I am interested in seeing the M's v Sox.
  2. You know things are going really badly for a team when weird s*** starts to happen around them that has nothing to do with their play. Just Kismet...going against them on top of everything else. I will be happy to get out of here before we contract whatever the O's have. I see a massive housecleaning coming.
  3. Occasionally we see OFers that are just exception in one of the three OF positions. Beni is one of those as he is just an exceptional LHer. He is not nearly as good in CF or RF. He is good enough to be considered outstanding in LF...especially true in Fenway LF. A little weak going to his throwing hand side but that used to be really rough and now he is just not as good going that way as he is going to his glove side. That is a huge improvement in that category. I would take Beni in Fenway LF over just about anybody else in that specific OF position in Fenway Park and take him over 75% of the OFer's playing LF in any ML park.
  4. Oh yea I know that. I think I did track the guy to the end of the year and his numbers did improve as a HP ump and there are "remedies" in their contract. Somebody probably said something like "you are going to drive pitching staffs ambulatory at this rate!" Put him on a better track. He did not get any post season assignments as I remember it. THANK GOD!!!! I think the most annoying thing about that day is that the dugouts were beside themselves it was so bad and the ump just got worse and worse each inning as if to say "OK.....you think this is a small strike zone...try this one on for size." Just an awful example of bad umpiring exacerbated by bad attitude. It got so bad that the hitters started doubting their own eyes. Like "My God that was not a strike. is it me?" You would think the hitters would universally think the situation to be advantageous to them. Nice slide JD. Just got around that.
  5. Sox management is going to have some explaining to do if this keeps up. Like how can you let a guy have that many AB's producing those numbers? Do we see anything here suggesting he is not headed for something like .170/.290/.525? Maybe a string of opposing pitchers that I could hit. Possible I suppose. Heck a string of awful opposing pitchers happens now all the time. Just not so awful that I could actually get a hit somewhere in there.
  6. OK...so that solves that mystery. The HP ump today is Brian Knight. The HP ump that day in Cleveland was one of the two Reynold's umpiring that year...maybe this year too. That day, nothing and I do mean nothing was a strike unless it was right down the middle of the plate. We are not talking about on or off the black here or at the knees or letters. He missed strikes everywhere. Both starters, Sale and Cleveland's starter were driven out of the game by the 4th inning and both bullpens were just raped. Probably changed the pens for both teams for a week after that game.
  7. I am sorry I did not pick up on the HP ump for today. Anybody know who this is? There was that ump last year that just postage stamped Sale right off the mound...literally in a game against Cleveland. Actually the guy postage stamped both starting pitchers right off the mound in a game that ended up I think double digit runs for both teams and bullpens just spent loads. I wanted that ump fired on the spot. Any idea who this guy is?
  8. NESN has been groping for something for years and I just don't know what it is. Just give us a good broadcast. Keep the ******** to a minimum and the actual analysis to a maximum so that young fans actually learn the dif between a good play and a bad play and I would be happy with that. Their recent penchant for ignoring some really bad Sox play is really ticking me off. Suggests the Sox and NESN PR think their future lies in convincing fans that these particular Sox players are just the greatest ballplayers of all time, simply incapable of error. That contention would simply be too easy to blow holes though. If anything I think they could enhance their future helping people, especially young people understand the real beauty of this game.
  9. Yea...take one for the team...errrrrrr...maybe 40-50 for the team.
  10. atta boy Rafi. Really nice stretch by Holt who simply does not have the physical build for 1st base. That is like stretching out a toy bulldog. All the want to in the world won't get much stretch out of a toy bulldog.
  11. Coconuts bouncing off each other in Orioles LF. As much as I hate Showalter, this has got to be driving him crazy. Suffering through something like Tito's last year here I think.
  12. Yup...Camden Yards has been levitated into the clouds which is apparently why now nobody can find their way to the ballpark. Those are angels in those seats...all fourteen of them.
  13. After watching arcade pinball baseball in Houston or lets hit the catwalk in Tampa that back wall hardly even qualifies as a little weird.
  14. Got to be looking where its going to catch it Rafi
  15. DingDingDingDingDing....yes folks we have a winner. Not only does he throw a zillion pitches. But lately the amount of time he takes delivering the ball exceeds Price. E-rod now delivers pitches like new moms deliver babies....after a long pronounced labor.
  16. At this point he is going to end up at half a Mendoza line on something like 300-400 AB's and there will not be another GM in the league that will believe that. They will be calling DD to tell him there is a typo in JBJ's official stats. DD will say "Yea thanks but NO".
  17. I swear if you told Eddie to go to 3-2 on every hitter he could hardly do it more than he does.
  18. I am convinced just from having seen him so many years that Holt put on a bit of weight this off season which he has done before. This time his body looks to be mature enough to carry the weight I think it has helped him this year.
  19. Oh well.....this should at least be an interesting lineup. When Mookie is out I sort of lose interest in what Cora does after that within reason. This is fine. Either they hit or they don't hit. I don't like JD 4th especially with Mookie out. I would almost prefer JD hit 2nd with mookie out. But this is OK by me anyway.
  20. And they wonder why attendance and rating are flagging. How much of this crap do they expect people to watch?
  21. That came from the bench. That was a full on take by Mitch on that pitch and frankly that is ridiculous.
  22. This will sound like Monday morning quarterbacking but why force Mitch to a full take on 3-1? So you get what out of that...a walk and a one run lead if the pitcher walks him? The guy is batting 4th in your order. For the love of God I am actually beginning to hate they way they play baseball now.
  23. I wonder...Does JBJ actually think he is a hitter with that pile of crap swing?
  24. Hate to say it again folks but we have hit like s*** since the Maneae game. Boy the wires must have been burning up from Oakland that night because really we have hit nobody that is even a middling pitcher who is not pumping FB after FB at us since then. If they can pitch in reverse, we appear to have no answer to that.
