They've had some chances. They had Soto, they still have Rizzo, and their September call up Junior Lake wasn't too bad, but they could never get the pitching. They have Samardzija, but that's it. I guess you're right in the fact that it doesn't matter how long it takes. My point was that if they finally got the prospects and developed them, guys like Castro and Rizzo will be at their prime or past it. They might have one playoff year, but that's it.

On a side note, it may not be a good thing if the Sox play Game 4 of the ALCS on my birthday. In 2003, Aaron Boone hit the walk off in game 7, a game I have no memory of. In 2004, it was game 3, the game the Skanks won 19-8 in Boston, a game I have a very vague memory of. In 2007, the Guardians beat the Red Sox to take a 3-1 lead in the ALCS. But finally, a good game: 2008 game 5, Sox were down 7-0 going into the bottom of the 7th and won in the 9th. The next game in that series is the last playoff win for the Sox.

I think that the Guardians will be able to beat either team and I would like the Rays to lose because they would be considered "not in the playoffs." How great would that be?
