Well, he is a career 4.0 ERA pitcher, regardless he has been HEALTHY, under 3.5 last four years and has put 190+ IP the last three season. I got your concerns, but I see on him a decent 4-4.5 ERA in a very viable scenario with a great upside. And who knows? if he makes the necesary adjustments he will improve those concerns.

My rank would be: 1 Tex 2 NY 3 LAA 4 DET 5 BOS/Rays If we sign the SP, IMO we will take the #3 or #4.

I see a very competitive AL at this point, but IMO and considering this move, DET is definitely in the top tier.

Wandy would be a solid #4 SP. We do not need more.

BTW beyond Oswalt's health/ physical conditioning, what I would have liked about this move is that we wouldn't give up prospects.

This. IMO, and this is olny my opinion, he is not that "healthy". This has been my concern about this guy all offseason long, reason why I would prefer to land Wandy or Floyd these days. On the other hand, if we sign him, I want to believe that Ben sees enough fuel in his tank to face next season. I just want to avoid another failure in that regard (injuries).

Well, I re-read the last pages of this thread and I found out jung's theory very interesting. It's not about what or how they are negotiating with Oswalt (of course nobody knows), but the signs that jung has seen in this matter (business environment + timing + business scenarios etc). On the other hand, I won't be surpriesed if even Jackson or Wandy arrive to Boston. Either way, this is becoming very interesting. We'll see how it ends, hopefully with the SP.
