  1. I'm going to miss her
  2. Thanks for the heads up, I disagree with a few of these but they are a far better reflection on what people who know a lot about baseball think than the gold glove. Plus anything with Gammons turns to gold.
  3. Gold Gloves are a load of s*** this year like every year, just wait for the Fielding Bible Awards everybody. One thing in particular did disturb me though, how the hell did Gardner not get a gold glove? I understand that the picks are almost never correct and usually only because of their offense and name status, but Gardner's 2011 was one of the best ever for a Left Fielder, and the very best since we've seen since Barry Bonds in the 80s. What a joke.
  4. How much he strikes out shouldn't really be in there, a strikeout is much better than a GDP. He was awful in the beginning, and trailed off in the end, but during that middle period he was really good. I don't think there's much potential in him either, everyone goes on hot streaks, Lavarnway should of probably been there from the beginning.
  5. And the genius of Gammons continues to show: He was the first to talk about the disagreements between Epstein and Francona, and now how Lackey needs Tommy John Surgery. And Lackey seems a bit like a "I can pitch without the damn surgery!" stubborn kind of guy, that is most defiantly the reason.
  6. , good thing Lugo's too busy being a .345 OPS bench player for the Braves.
  7. I think balls and strikes should be gathered through technology, the other umpires still probably need to be there for the time being. Instant Replay should be there for every argued call, with another umpire being somewhere to review the footage. If it starts getting too extensive and annoying, maybe put in a rule for a certain amount of times you can do it. Also, add in salary caps. Not like any of this will ever happen, but I wish baseball learned that they need to get more up with the times, if you put all these things in it would still be the same game started in the 1870s, just less annoying and more honest.
  8. Used to have a big ass poster on my wall of Pedro, I didn't get to see him play that much since i was so young, but he had inhuman stuff from what I've seen from mostly replays and stats. When I first heard he wouldn't mind joining the Red Sox, I was really hoping he would, but it was pretty obvious it wasn't going to happen. And now that I look back at it, he probably would of been good to have in the rotation. Who would you of rather started, 40 year old Pedro, or Kyle Weiland?
  9. Can't they just get rid of Bogar already, I don't want to have the thought of him possibly being back for 2012 be there any longer.
  10. The real question about it is, is this weakness more hurting than this one, Crawford not being able to play balls that well off the green monster in LF, or him not being able to throw people out/hold people on second at all in RF. And Crawford might have the worst arm of someone in the starting lineup, so there's no reason to put a position that needs a great arm to play to him. Just try to train him a little more in playing balls off the monster. They have probably already tried, but in the off-season that's probably something they really need to focus on.
  11. I think it's mainly the supposed effects on the rest of the clubhouse, especially the pitching staff, which again could be lessened by a manger, or other players, keeping everything in tact. There's no reason to trade Beckett, we need as much pitching as we can going into 2011.
  12. I don't know, they didn't make the playoffs after a spectacular playoff run, their offense is just pathetic, and their pitching is great. If there was a time to do a trade for Lincecum, it would be now.
  13. With all these reports coming out, and people criticizing nearly every member of the team, I think one person is being left out of this whole thing: Scutaro. While the other Red Sox were trying out their $300 headphones in September, Scutaro actually seemed to really care, he had a 1.019 OPS during it, and had 21 RBIs. He also seemed to be reasonably clutch throughout the rest of the season, the double off Mariano Rivera that led to the blown save at Fenway really sticks out to me. Scutaro had started out the year pretty badly, and I won't shy away from saying I wanted them to start Lowrie instead of him, but even during those bad times you could tell he always cared. When he missed the suicide squeeze play, and then got thrown out at second base trying for a double, you could tell that he always actually cared. Easily the best Shortstop we've had here since Nomar, I hope he's back in 2012.
  14. Damn, even the English are getting on us now. Good thing they don't understand baseball
  15. Eckersly (who wasn't doing so good the last few years) and Mike Brumley, a player in the minor leagues. It's weird that nowadays people seem to forgot that Buckner wasn't a good player at all, he was at a negative WAR in all but one of his full seasons in Boston, including 1986, and overall had one of -2.5 with the Red Sox. He was basically a contact hitter, didn't walk much and didn't strike out, so I suppose some people could say those numbers are about right for someone like that. And even with the Cubs he was only a little above average, people thought he was great (and gave him some MVP votes) because he hit for average, but he didn't walk or have much power, not to mention he wasn't good defensively at the time either. It's interesting how stats nowadays show how good a player really is.
  16. 83/200 Not all too bad considering I haven't followed the team that long I suppose, I don't know how I possibly forgot about Mike Lowell though.
  17. I think some people seem to forget how good Wakefield used to be, he was never really a star or CYA candidate (other than 1995), but he used to be a solid pitcher who could give you a lot of innings. Now he's just making a complete joke of himself, as he was in 2010. It's painful ever time he takes the mound, it's good he got his big 200th win. I don't want to see him win anything else, seriously. The all time wins record is rightfully owned by the greatest pitcher of all time, and one in the top ten, doesn't matter if Clemens is a prick, Wakefield has been acting like one lately too.
  18. My grandfather (who had season tickets to Sox games basically the whole time he lived at home because his dad worked for Boston), said he was a minor fan of them and went to a few games. He didn't really seem to be all that sad when they moved though, so I don't think there was a hatred between both sides. It was pretty obvious the Red Sox were the main team though, that's mostly why a lot of people don't talk much about the Boston Braves.
  19. Don't forget this is a rematch of the last time the Breweres were in the World Series, pretty cool. Hoping for some great pitching duels, I pick the Brewers though, the Cardinals just barely inched out the Phillies. Having the first two games at Miller Park is also pretty important, even if the the next three after that (if necessarily) are Busch stadium. I say Brewers in 5 or 6.
  20. Fenway's Fenway, it's pretty cool knowing this is the same place where my extended family went to to see games all the way back to the 1910s. So much history here, simply destroying it would feel so wrong. Everything about it is just so iconic, I would feel like I was watching a Road Game every day if they built a completely new park. It's a good park in it's own right anyway, even if the seats do suck ass.
  21. Meh, it's not that big of a deal, it probably didn't take much longer to shoot it than it's length in the video, it's not like this is new anyway. Bronson Arroyo did that album and had a few Sox players on it, Kevin Youkilis has been in a few music videos, and I'm pretty sure others have at some point too. The fact that it happened in a season where those allegations popped up is just painful irony.
  22. That was one of the most spectacular and interesting games I've seen this year, great jobs Tigers!
