  1. I seriously doubt that Vasquez can throw 98% of base stealers.
  2. I'm all in favor of bringing Ells back, but I draw the line at or around 5/100. Anything too far over that and I hope we walk away.
  3. We shouldn't sign people to keep them away from other teams.
  4. Agreed. Stay the course and don't do anything stupid.
  5. Edit: epic burn deleted due to not seeing apology before posting of said epic burn.
  6. Just stay out it and let New York overpay for him. We can laugh about this 4-5 years from now when he's OPS'ing .750 as a DH.
  7. I remember hearing that he might have been linked to that biogenesis clinic.
  8. I fail to see how that should any bearing on whether we should actually bring Cano on board.
  9. Pedroia is the face of the franchise along with Ortiz and was locked up for far less than what Cano will cost. The contract is also front loaded to protect us during a possible decline phase in the later years.
  10. He loses value as a first baseman. His offense at 1B would be very good, not great by positional standards. Also, he's spent his entire career in the field playing a physical demanding position. There is a very good chance that he breaks down over the length of his next contract. In fact, I guarantee that he will fall off at some point in the not too distant future.
  11. Ortiz has hardly had to play the field his entire career.
  12. You honestly think signing a guy who to an 8 year contract worth 200 million that is going to take him almost into his 40's isn't a huge mistake?
  13. Signing Cano is a bad idea. Period. End of discussion. We already have a second baseman and giving Cano 200m at age 31 to play first base is a very bad idea. I can't stress enough how bad of an idea it is.
  14. Offering Cano 200m would be monumentally and unforgivably stupid. I want absolutely nothing to do with him.
  15. This would be acceptable.
  16. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
  17. The new ownership took over in 2002 correct? In the seasons we've missed the playoffs; 2002: 92 wins 2006:86 wins (injury plagued) 2010: 88/89 wins (injury plagued 2011: 90 wins 2012: 69 wins (bobby v) In 4 of the 5 years we've missed the playoffs under Henry/Werner/Lucchino, we've still been a good team. Hell, the 2010 and 2011 teams would've made the postseason if the 2nd wild card existed then.
  18. Try watching the documentary "Catching Hell". After viewing it, you'll cease to have any sympathy for Cubs fans if you ever did before. It's about Steve Bartman and how he was treated after the foul ball in Game 6 of the '03 NLCS.
  19. You didn't think we'd make the playoffs? This is grounds for an immediate ban. YOTN, kick her southern fried ass out of here!
  20. Indeed they do.
  21. Not in the slightest. I'm one of the most LGBTQ supportive people you'll ever meet.
  22. Thank you for the relationship advice, User, but I disagree that this site needs more of the Tampa Bay Rays. f*** those guys.
  23. Dude, if you had Fred's balls any more in your mouth, I'd think you were his gay lover.
  24. Not to mention that Cano's H/R splits are pretty close.
  25. This sentiment is incredibly flattering. I know you can't see it but I'm blushing right now.
