  1. Since we're on the topic of the MFY's, allow me to say that seeing Jacoby's press conference on MLBN made me die a little inside. The Yankees are the single most evil organization in human history. f*** them.
  2. I'll agree that limiting strikeouts as much as you can is a good thing, I myself was frustrated when Nap would K with a guy on third but if the dude is going to OPS .840 with good defense in the field, it's just something you're gonna have to live with. It's an acceptable trade off. And I'm agreeing with your point, I know it might not have initially read like it.
  3. We're out on Kemp. 30 y/o, expensive, possibly crippled.
  4. If JBJ can hit like his plate discipline suggests, I think he might find himself hitting leadoff before year's end. My money is on Shane in the 1 spot until then. With Pedey 2nd and Papi 3rd my bet is something like: 1. Vic 2. Pedey 3. Papi 4. Napoli 5. Nava/Gomes 6. Xander 7. WMB 8. AJ 9. JBJ This is obviously, of course, if Drew doesn't return. If Stephen comes back, I'd hit him 7th with Xander shifting to 3B. I'd be fine with AJ and JBJ getting flipped in the lineup but I think Jackie, if he can hit decently in his rookie year, would provide an opportunity to get a good OBP guy in the 9 hole so that there can be someone on base for the top of the order when the lineup turns over.
  5. Not to mention a complete inability to comprehend the idea behind taking a base on balls.
  6. I'm still in favor of taking a look at Tommy Hanson, Jerome Williams, or another cheap starter if we deal Dempster.
  7. Good hitter but not the versatile type that we need. At his age with his injury history, i don't think he could cover any positions other than 1st and 3rd.
  8. Very happy with this. I'm glad we were able to keep it at 2 years. Nice going, BC.
  9. What I don't get is why they sign McCann, give ridiculous money to Ells, and then they decide to act fiscally responsible and play hardball with a guy who's one of the top 5 hitters on the planet. You're the f***ing Yankees, at least go up to 8/200. I don't see the point in them getting stupid with Ellsbury and then being stingy with cano. It just doesn't make sense, Ellsbury signifies a willingness to go overboard, why stop at that when that door's already been opened?
  10. I think Stanton is kind of a pointless discussion now. Miami is adamant that he isn't getting moved and with the injury history and the price it'd cost to acquire him, I'm not sure I'd want to land him.
  11. Still not worth 140 million dollars more than Pedey. Iove what leaving so much money on the table says about Dustin and where his priorities are as a player.
  12. I want absolutely nothing to do with Ethier. He is Daniel Nava for a far higher price.
  13. Can you give me a salaried position when you're wealthy? Throw a mojo brother a bone?
  14. On one hand, I want to see what Dempster could fetch us on the market and dump him to free up some money. On the other, I feel like he could still be valuable. Our rotation has two guys that are big injury risks in Buchholz and Peavy. Dempster is pretty durable and would be good insurance in case one of them goes down. The only question is if starting pitching insurance is worth 13 million dollars. I'm very open to trading Dempster but I'd like it if BC could look at a tommy Hanson or Jerome Williams type just as cheap injury insurance. I doubt either one would be much worse than Dempster and both should cost us a bit less.
  15. Read somewhere that Mujica, Koji, Taz, and Badenhop ranked 1,3,7, and 12 respectively in walk rate among 125 qualified relievers. Having that in our bullpen is pretty awesome. Love this signing.
  16. My point is that was just plain luck and random chance that those two injuries happened to him. I don't think it's indicative of what will happen to him going forward.
  17. There's no such thing as finding players finding a way to get injured. Jacoby Ellsbury does not have some sinister injury karma that causes him to have shittier luck with staying healthy. Random chance has just screwed him over on two separate occasions. He was trucked by a middle linebacker and had some ******* body slam his shoulder. He was healthy in 2008 and 2009, s***** luck in 2010, healthy in 2011, s***** luck in 2012, and healthy in 2013. His only real ailments have been two freak injuries.
  18. They're full of s***. When have the Yankees ever given a f*** about money? They'll find a problem to solve, throw money at it, and then rinse and repeat.
  19. I think he recovered from the foot fracture pretty quickly. Not to mention that we found out he was playing with just one good hand during the entire postseason.
  20. Ellsbury's status as being injury prone is unfair. I've been saying that for a while. 2 freak accidents don't make him injury prone. That said, I'm sincerely glad that it's the Yankees and not us paying him 153 million for the next 7 years. f*** that.
  21. I would cheer until my throat was sore for his first AB. After that, he's an MFY and gets treated like one.
  22. Holy mother of farm rape, Batman!
  23. @PeteAbe: rumors that Pierzynski made previous statement while taking a piss in Dustin Pedroia's coffee. /sarcasm
  24. Ethier is Nava for 20x the money, Grandy would cost us a draft pick, and Cruz would cost us a draft pick and is terrible at baseball. Kemp is an intriguing option depending on the price.
  25. Damon got smatterings of cheers when he returned and that's after lying to the entire fanbase. I'm sure there'll be some people throwing dollar bills and booing but I bet the reception will be a lot better than you think.
