  1. Hard to call Ells a traitor like Damon was (Damon played us all for fools and then took the money and ran.) I don't begrudge him for going to the MFY and I hope he gets a huge ovation for his first AB back at Fenway.
  2. And a fanbase that actually gives 2/3 of a flying f***.
  3. Not that interested in Beltran. He's old, not much better than Nava at this point with the bat, and a huge liability in the field with his balky knees. If we signed him, I'd hope it would be to teach him how to play first.
  4. I'm curious as to what number Jacoby is going to wear seeing as how 2 is already taken by Captain f***face.
  5. Napoli yes if he can be had for something close to 2/28. Meh on Tanaka.
  6. Thanks. What are you thinking it might look like?
  7. I shall now predict that JBJ outplays Ells, AJ outplays McCann, and we still win the division. I'm only 2/3 joking.
  8. Jon Heyman sounds so giddy reporting this on MLBN right now. Talking about how much the Yankees enjoy taking a player from the Sox.
  9. Eh, it's just a fun thing to do to kill time.
  10. This is glorious.
  11. 1- Victorino RF 2- Xander SS 3- Pedey 2B 4- Papi DH 5- Hart 1B 6- Nava LF 7- WMB 3B 8- JBJ CF 9- AJ C
  12. We don't need to go outside of the organization to replace most of our FA's. Xander is our SS, the same Xander with eye-popping plate discipline who played out of his mind during the playoffs JBJ takes over in CF: He's still inexperienced but he also has outstanding on base skills, far better than Ellsbury's, and also grades out as a good defensive center fielder. 1B- if Napoli won't come back for something reasonable we can always sign Corey Hart or give the job to Mike Carp. C- We ride out AJ/Ross for a year and then hand the reigns to Vasquez/Swihart. Both of whom are really exciting prospects with major league skills. You know what the best part about the above is? It's the fact that those options are very young, save for Hart/Carp, and not going to cost us the equivalent of an arm and a testicle. And as much offense as the Yankees have, what they don't have is a pitching rotation and minor league depth. We have an incredibly deep stable of good pitching, in both the majors and minors as well as buckets of young positional talent that could be solid, cheap contributors in the very near future.
  13. Carl Crawford. Every time you want to make some deliriously stupid free agent signing and spend money just for the f*** of it, remember Carl Crawford. Repeat after me Fred: Carl Crawford Carl Crawford Carl Crawford
  14. We just won the division, making the Yankees our bitches in the process, and won the World Series without facing a single elimination game. The Yankees are still below us on the totem pole with our ass cheeks planted firmly on their face. Suggesting otherwise is just asinine. Let's stay away from Napoli if he wants too much and let's stay away from Cano because signing him is just an awful f***ing idea for what he's asking. Signing free agents just to stick it to the Yankees is exactly how s*** like 2012 happens. Calm your titties and let the Major League Executive of the Year do his job. Ben is wide awake and preparing to make the competition his bitch in 2014. Again.
  15. This post = epic win
  16. I would be among the ranks of those clapping and cheering. Ells will always be a favorite of mine, pinstripes or no pinstripes. And be thankful that's it not us paying him 21 mil a year for the next 7 years. I'd have been fine with 5/100(maybe 6/110) but this is just ridiculous.
  17. What is the Yankees' obsession with signing our CFer's once they hit FA.? I can't hate Ells for this, he's given 7 years of his career, several of them pretty damn good, to us and he was an essential part of 2 World Series championships. He never made any promises like Damon did. I'll always love Ells and thank him for his amazing time as a Red Sox. I can't exactly wish him luck, signing with the MFY and all, but I hope he plays well as the Yankees lose 95 games a season for the next 7 years.
  18. I'm hearing Salty to the Marlins FWIW. Good luck to him. His defense was never a plus but he showed noticeable improvement as a hitter and I don't think his 2013 BABIP was entirely a mirage. He walked more, swung less, and he hit more line drives. His high K rates and his contact % suggests that he might have trouble hitting for enough average to put up quite what he did this year going forward but I honestly think he's gotten much better as a hitter since 2011. I wish the best for him in Miami and hope he gets a good ovation should he ever return to Fenway at some point.
  19. I really wonder what the f*** Dave Dombrowski was smoking when he made that deal. Lombardozzi is a fungible asset, Krol is a bullpen arm from what I've read, and Ray is a nice prospect but nothing amazing. Doug Fister is really good and under control for 2 more years at a very low price for the production he provides.
  20. Farrell as well as guys like Pedey and Papi aren't going to put up with any ********. He and Papi are pretty good friends as well from what I hear so I doubt it'll be that big of a problem if it's one at all.
  21. I think Hanigan big extension with Tampa points to a possible reason as to why BC lost interest and went with AJ. Hanigan signed a 3 year extension with a 4th year option, if he was looking for a long term deal it wouldn't make sense for us to bring him in when all we want at catcher is a 1-2 year stop gap. There is also the price we'd have to pay to acquire him. The Reds actually got a pretty good haul for him. What do we think would be the Red Sox equivalent of what they got?
  22. I'm okay with this. He's a decent stop gap and even if he tries acting like a raging ******* in the clubhouse, our veterans and Farrell will surely put a stop to any ********. I'm still kinda sad to see Salty go. I'm thankful for 2013 and wish him luck with the rest of his career.
  23. Just throwing s*** at the wall, what do we think about JP Arencibia? The Jays are probably gonna let him go if they can't trade him. He was horrifyingly bad last year, probably the worst starting catcher in baseball but in 2011 and 2012, he was able to slug in the .430's with 20 bomb power. His plate discipline is s***** and he's a poor defender but if he can get back to pre-2013 levels, he might be a passable 1 year stop gap. I doubt he'd cost all that much. It's a thin catching market and if we don't land Hannigan or resign Salty, Arencibia might be possible as a fall back option.
  24. I just looked up his BRef page and it's really sad when you see just how good he was before he had problems with injuries. From his age 22 to 25 seasons, he was worth over an average of over 6 WAR a season with a high of 6.6 (twice) and a low of 5.5. He could've been one of the biggest stars in the league if he'd been able to stay healthy.
  25. I was guessing typo but it seems my sarcasm detector is busted.
