  1. It doesn't mean s*** to me if the guy is a jerk so long as he does his job. Has josh been an ace? No, I'm not making that claim. Has he been better than a 4.57 ERA would indicate? I believe so. I'm glad I'm not the only person on this site who looks past somebody's personality and pays more attention to their actual ability.
  2. That would be the most insane, indefensible move any front office has ever made in any sport. We don't need some full on fire sale. It's not like we're Seattle.
  3. Quit bitching about the guys attitude like its worth dumping a quality pitcher over. He's a prick when he's good and a prick when he's bad.
  4. I'd hold into him. And not just because I have a man crush on him. The facts are that he his ERA is a full run higher than his FIP and he's: Walked batters at a lower rate than 2011 Gotten more groundballs Given up less HR's The only numbers that would point to him being a lesser pitcher this year are that he's struck out less batters and has a lower strand rate with a BABIP that's regressed to league average. Still, everything adds up to him being a solid two with an ERA around 3.50 to 4.00 which is what I think we'll need from him the rest of the way to stay in the race. Don't trade him unless someone makes a very good offer.
  5. I heard Texas wasn't that interested.
  6. Because he eats chicken and is a meany face.
  7. I'm hoping for a 7-3 run in these next ten. Take 2 vs detroit and hopefully take care of Texas while beating up on Minnesota in between.
  8. I was starting to lean towards selling during the weekend but right now, I'm thinking something like a flexible stand pat. Don't deal Beckett or Lester or Ross unless we get blown away but if someone wants punto, Sweeney, or any of our other spare parts and makes a decent offer then pull the trigger. Also, if a decent starter becomes obtainable without giving up top prospects them I think bc should go ahead and make a deal. Other than that, stand pat and see if Beckett and Lester can get it together over the last two months and help us make a run for the playoffs.
  9. Unless we get blown away, people can just f*** off on Lester.
  10. Agreed on Aviles. Decent defense doesn't outweigh an OBP as gag inducing as his. Stick with Pedro or bring up Iglesias. Mike just sucks.
  11. Plus we have 3 at home vs Detroit now who's 3 up on us in the wildcard and then 4 at home vs the shittastic Twinkies. 7 games for us to do some serious damage.
  12. We're at .500, we're 4 games back in the wild card with 3 division rivals ahead of us in the standings and a series coming up at home vs Detroit. I'm not getting my hopes up, and I admit it's very unlikely, but f*** me if I don't think we still have the slightest inkling of a chance.
  13. I really like these suggestions. Contrary to popular belief, we are still in decent shape for the next few years. Add a piece here and there and do some tweaking and we are set to compete in 2013. I'm very excited to see what happens with this team in the coming offseason.
  14. Slump buster bitches.
  15. Trust me. You don't want it to happen.
  16. I would've been pissed if Pedey bunted. I would only bunt, in most cases, if it gets me a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs.
  17. I think I might pull the trigger for ranuado and kalish. Sounds reasonable to me.
  18. What would you give up?
  19. Well he's been dealing as of late and I'm thinking that he's gonna be pretty cheap.
  20. I'm starting to back off a bit on garza. Grienke is a question mark right now and the chances that Hamels is getting dealt are dwindling. Garza's slowly becoming the top option on the market and he's only going to be something of a #3 man so I'm wondering if he's gonna be worth what the price is going to wind up being. I really don't want us to put our top guys on the table for someone who's not an ace, is gonna be making 12 mil next season, and is trying to get us to a 1 game playoff. Don't get me wrong, I'd still love to have him here but I hope Ben backs off and says no go if the price gets too high. I'd rather take my chances with our own top 3 getting it going than giving up high end prospects for a number 3 man. Hell, maybe see what the twins want for liriano.
  21. 3/30 is a bit much for Cody but I think that 3/18 is reasonable or perhaps something around 2/12 with an option for a 3rd year would be a good offer.
  22. We definately need to keep him around. He loves it here, he's still relatively young, early 30's, and is absolutely built for Fenway park. I f***ing love this guy.
