    Jackie has indeed been tearing the cover off of the ball this spring and it seems to be general consensus that he will be up with the big club at some point this year.

    1. Lester and Buchholz have looked pretty good but the real story, IMO, is Allen Webster who has been absolutely filthy and is looking like he might be up with the big club at some point this year. 2. Ortiz is having issues and is most likely going to start the year on the DL along with Drew, Morales, and Breslow. Other than that all is quiet on the injured front. 3. The East is wide open this year with all of the teams in it having a legitimate shot at taking home the division crown. It should be a very fun and exciting year.

    Good to be back. And you never struck me as one of the negative types, I don't think you have much work to do if you wanna join the ball washing club.

    Things seem relatively civil now but once Opening Day rolls around, the gloves are gonna come off like they always do. Each year here is a civil war between the optimists and the naysayers.

    It's good to be back and thank you. Let's hope this year ends better than last. And hopefully the resurrection of The John Lackey Does Not Suck Club will prove itself necessary.

    I am right there with you. I see reason for optimism this year. I'm not expecting us to win it all this year but I expect us to be competitive and think a high 80's, low 90's win total is within the realm of realistic. I think our bullpen will be solid and the Sox have never had problems scoring runs and I think we'll be able to have a decent offense despite Ortiz's early health issues. It all hinges on the rotation: If Lester and Clay can regain some semblance of their former selves with dempster being a solid 3, Lackey being more 2010 than 11, and if Felix/Webster can hold down the 5 spot, I see no reason to think we can't be in the playoff race. I know that is a lot that needs to go right but the 2nd WC gives us one more spot to fight for and if the talent on this team performs to its capabilities, I think we can snag it or something better.

    Well this is just unfortunate. It's not like it's a big deal though. Youk is an aging infielder who's had injury issues the past couple of years and belongs more at 1st than 3rd.

    Is this because of: A. My 2011 support for Lackey? B. My 2012 support for Beckett? Or C. A combination of the two?

    They're smart runners too. The SB% by all three of ells, Victorino, and Pedey is very high. They don't get caught very often.

    I would throw myself off a bridge if we gave up Ellsbury for Jason Vargas. That's nauseating just thinking about it.

    Stay the f*** away from Lee. The guy is getting older and owed a s*** ton of money. Guys like him are exactly who we need to stay away from if we want to avoid getting caught in the same shitstorm that we just saw in 2012.

    Looking at his numbers, he's not as bad as I thought. I'm still not sure how I feel about this but he's fast, has some pop, is a great base stealer, and can play defense. If he can go back to what he was prior to 2012 and put up a .340-50 OBP with about 15 bombs with speed and D, I'll be happy. Here's hoping. We're really much more active in the FA market than I thought though. I just hope BC has the good sense to stay away from Grienke and Hamilton. Great though they be, thats gonna be a lot of money for two guys who have some significant issues.

    I just heard the Victorino thing on the tv in the background while I was in the kitchen and almost threw up in my mouth. Please let this be false. Shane Victorino is 32 years old and what the educated commonly refer to as "terrible".
