  1. Not much more infuriating than failing with RISP and then watching your pitcher get hosed on a strike 3 call.
  2. Oh good. Another infuriating offensive day.
  3. Little pregame question. Trey Ball's (Sox 1st rounder) dad has been a lifelong Yankees fan, and I was curious, if your kid was drafted by the Yankees, how would you react? It would be a tough situation for sure
  4. Because 23.8% (only slightly over league average of 20%) is so comparable to Napoli's 32% or Salty's 34.1%....you know, 60-80% greater than league average....
  5. You'd be upset if you got to see RDLR's debut with the Sox?!?
  6. Wonder who the Red Sox will call up to be the 26th man tomorrow for the DH? Rubby is scheduled to pitch for the PawSox tomorrow. I could see the Sox calling him up and putting him in the bullpen, only use him if they have to, and push back his start to Sunday. The PawSox got rained out tonight too, so whoever was supposed to throw tonight can pitch for them tomorrow on regular rest, or, if that was RDLR, they could just push everyone back a day. They also could give Rubby the start in the night cap and give the rotation an extra day.
  7. He may not get that much cut he could certainly get 3/39 or 3/42. And I'd pass on both of those, but I absolutely despise excessive strike outs (I also hate Salty). Not sure Middlebrooks would be much of an improvement in terms of the K rate, though, and the Sox are pretty empty at the 1B position in terms of minor league depth. Maybe you give a look to Michael Morse or maybe you try to make a trade at the deadline for a change of scenery guy like Smoak, see how he reacts in Pawtucket, or an offseason deal for Brandon Belt.
  8. No, no, no. Iggy is hitting well right now, but literally one of every two balls he puts in play is going for a knock. That's insane, and literally impossible to sustain. He's certainly proven that he can hit major league pitching, and his new approach is giving him huge improvement. He's driving the ball way, way more than he used to. While he will never hit enough for a corner IF position, he has shown that he can be a .250/.315/.375 hitter, which is about an average SS, and with his glove would make him a well above average SS. No, Iglesias will never push Middlebrooks out of 3B directly. BUT, if he plays well enough to push Bogaerts off SS (much like the Hardy/Machado situation), Middlebrooks could very well be pushed off of the position for Bogaerts.
  9. Really good article by Alex Speier (per usual) on Trey Ball. http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/alex-speier/2013/06/07/swinging-fences-trey-ball-what-red-sox-saw-lef?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  10. Looks like the Sox are almost certainly going to get rained out tonight. Likely a day/night DH tomorrow, as this is the only trip the Angels make out here. Tomorrow it's supposed to stop raining at around 10 am, and be sunny starting at around 1.
  11. It's almost like this team decided they didn't want to put up competitive at bats, outside of Ellsbury and Gomes
  12. Middlebrooks went deep again in Pawtucket
  13. I think there will be a few moves when WMB gets activated. I think Ciriaco gets DFA'd, Iggy stays up, and Bogaerts is promoted to AAA (as I've exhausted in the young guns thread
  14. Not sure why he's even on the team anymore. I would much rather have Brandon Snyder up here than Ciriaco, and it's not close.
  15. There are certain games that just infuriate me to no end. This crap is unwatchable.
  16. Wow. That's freaking pathetic. Absolutely ridiculous.
  17. Agree. Not sure if you mean back from his injury or back playing well, but both are nice to see.
  18. You are correct. And I will stand by my opinion that I think Bogaerts will make do well enough over the next 2 months that Drew gets traded. Iglesias will likely be the SS initially, but Bogaerts will be up by mid August. That's now a prediction.
  19. What about Vizquel? Or Iglesias? Point blank - Fielding % is a very poor stat at determining defensive ability. And you absolutely trade your starting SS if someone in AA as highly touted and as talented as Bogaerts is ready. That doesn't make sense. You save money and you develop your prospect.
