  1. Guys it's not allergies its pneumonia for Remy.
  2. If Lackey doesn't come around? The guy with a 3.14 ERA? If that guy doesn't come around?? Not sure what you're talking about here... And Webster had one bad start in his past 6 starts with the PawSox. Prior to his last start, he strung together five solid AAA games in a row, throwing 28 innings to a 2.25 ERA. Certainly he needs to work on his walks, I will agree with that, but we can't act like he's a bum. It's not the Dodgers that are hyping this guy. It's Baseball America, Keith Law, Fangraphs, all of the prospect rankings have him as a potential top of the rotation guy. Exact same can be said of Rubby De La Rosa. Rubby has strung 8 consecutive starts where he's posted a 1.14 ERA with a K an inning and a 3.96 BB/9. Again, a guy who needs to harness his control a bit but that comes with development and experience throwing offspeed pitches, getting a feel for them.
  3. He hit a guy in retaliation because they threw at one of the PawSox. Let's not overblow the situation.
  4. The surprising aspect is that both of them are in the lineup. I would have expected Gomes to play and one of them to get the day off.
  5. Salty and WMB only two getting the day off today after playing last night. Really, really surprising that Ells and Vic are both back in the lineup.
  6. Farrell on MLB on XM just now - Buchholz isn't going to need a DL stint, so that's not the move to get De La Torre up here. - Three options for SP tomorrow - De La Rosa, Webster, and Aceves. - Iglesias playing 3B tonight.
  7. Not sure Webster will need more time than this full year in AAA. I'd actually be surprised if he doesn't log 10-12 starts at the MLB level before the year is over.
  8. I hate to admit it, but this exactly right. Outside of Beckett (and, to a lesser degree, Lackey), the Sox haven't made any big mistakes with their SP. But I think they've also learned from their mistake with Beckett, and that is to not sign pitchers on the wrong side of 30 to long term deals. If the Sox do trade Lester, they'll have to get back a Shields-esque return (i.e. a top 20 prospect, close to the MLB). I also wouldn't be surprised if the Sox decided to dish Lester, and then package that prospect up with another 1-2 high level guys (Cecchini, Webster, Barnes, type, or even Middlebrooks, if Bogaerts looks ready and they believe in Iglesias) in a deal for a guy like Stanton. Just depends on who they can get in return for Lester.
  9. I'd be very surprised if Iglesias didn't get the start at SS tonight. Drew looked absolutely overmatched by mediocre pitching last night. He's already had four hat tricks and a golden sombrero this year. He's been a very hit or miss player, it seems. He'll either get multiple hits, or he'll go 0-fer and look overmatched. Either way, after 14 innings, I'm sure the entire bench (Iggy, Gomes, Ross, Napoli) from last night will be starting tonight.
  10. Probably Pedroia. Doesn't matter. Hernandez (formerly known as Carmona) doesn't throw hard. He's going to get his tits lit tonight.
  11. Yeah - If ever there was a day that we needed a CGSO, it's tonight.
  12. Can't lie, I was shocked this morning to see that we won. Good win right there.
  13. This is pathetic. How can an entire staff be this bad
  14. I don't mind a 24-26% guy but when you push 33%+, it's disgusting to me.
  15. A lot of people think strikeouts don't matter if the production is still there (Napoli, Salty, etc). I clearly vehemently disagree.
  16. Good, good. Everything up. Just like we taught you Mort.
  17. Oh great it's Mort vs Longo. He'll last about, oh, I dunno, 3 pitches
  18. Id much rather see Aceves than Mort here, and it's not close.
  19. This team takes more called strike 3s right down the middle of the plate than I've seen in my entire life.
  20. Drew having a pretty terrible game. 1st and 3rd nobody out in the first and he pops out. Looks a lot worse now. Then proceeds to K in every subsequent AB.
  21. Can the Sox possibly pitch any worse?? This is downright pathetic
