  1. Alright Ellsbury, get him in!!!
  2. Middlebrooks looks like he's up there just guessing
  3. Relax guys. We're not going to lose this game.
  4. Yeah Doubront has too many piggyback starts.
  5. Doubront 1. Doesn't have a put away pitch and 2. Has stuff that is very hittable. Entirely too many foul balls.
  6. You know I am!!! I'm not gonna stop either.
  7. You'll see him in Boston this year. The question is whether it will be as a September call up or as an August starter
  8. Showers starting in Pawtucket tonight at 9, so Bogaerts should get 1-2 PA tonight. Hope he goes deep in his first AB. I'm almost certain he did that in Portland.
  9. Only 1 position player younger than Bogaerts in AA, and he's only 16 days younger, and he's posting a .561 OPS.
  10. Weather.com hour by hour has it as 0% chance of precip until 10:00 tonight, 40% of showers at 10, and then 30% of showers until midnight.
  11. True, and he still posted a 4.50 ERA against the Sox, which again isn't destroying, but it's certainly not a good start.
  12. I bet Axisa was fuming when he had to write a positive article about the Red Sox.
  13. One down. 95 to go. Longest win streak in baseball history. Everyone workout yesterday? I don't want anyone to be embarrassed tomorrow night when we all have to drop the drawers. Doubront vs Gausman. The Sox have destroyed rookie pitchers so far this year (except for last night). Keep the trend heading the right way. Bogaerts was promoted today. The best team in the American League with (according to BA recently) the best prospect in all of baseball is your Boston Red Sox. Win. And keep winning.
  14. This is incredibly exciting. Once a prospect like Bogaerts gets to AAA, you can almost taste his MLB debut. May have to make a trip down to Pawtucket to watch a RDLR game with Bogaerts at SS. Again, wouldn't shock me if Drew becomes expendable if Bogaerts is hitting .305/.400/.515 or something of the like in AAA come late July.
  15. Agree, and I don't mean to undervalue Scherzer, I think he's an outstanding pitcher.
  16. Xander Bogaerts has been promoted to AAA today. Extremely exciting.
  17. Scherzer has not been better than Sanchez by any measure. Sanchez has a better K/9, WAR, FIP, xFIP, the same BB/9, and Sanchez has been doing all of this with a .325 BABIP while Scherzer has a .243 BABIP.
  18. Don't think he seems baffled. Just think he needs to go back and see where the minor tweak needs to be. The fact that it's not blatantly obvious is more of a good sign than a bad. Last year Farrell could see Lester opening his front leg, dropping his back leg, and flattening out his pitches. That's much harder of a fix than, say, Lester pulling his throwing arm too far back toward 2nd base before he throws, which is what I've heard Farrell say may be the case.
  19. That's true. If you go by ERA, the Sox have the better top 2 (Lackey and Buchholz).
  20. They're 15 games over .500 through 67 right now. If they go 50-45 over the rest of the season (.526 ball, 85 win pace), that puts them at 91 wins. That's certainly a WC position, and could well win the division. My guess is that they end up between 94-96 wins. Probably go 53-42 or 54-41.
  21. Yeah the Tigers would be a really tough team to beat in any series. If the Sox can go out and trade for Cliff Lee, I think the Sox would have the edge. Buchholz is throwing as well as Verlander this year. Lee could match up well with Sanchez. And Lester could match up with Scherzer. Lackey could probably go toe to toe with Porcello/Fister. But if they don't have that extra top of the rotation guy, I don't like Lester vs Sanchez or Lackey vs Scherzer.
  22. If he's at 60 IP by July 31 and his limit is 80 IP this year, I don't see why it's a bad idea? EDIT: Nevermind - I thought he was sitting on a much lower innings limit than is actually the case. Speier is saying (in an old article from this past February) that RDLR is aiming toward ~130 IP. If that's the case, he should be able to be a spot starter, not a BP guy. I'd be fine putting him in the bullpen in September, though.
