  1. You know Napoli is going granny here. He's already K'd twice. He's either going to walk or go deep.
  2. I would definitely start Victorino here. Stay out of the DP ball. Good offspeed pitch count.
  3. Pedroia has gotten very pull happy since the ASB.
  4. What Snyder and Holt are doing right now is unsustainable. Bogaerts/Middlebrooks are both better options than Snyder, with Holt relegated to the bench as a back up IF.
  5. A minor league game was just lost by this same rule. 2 outs, bases loaded (I believe, at least 1st and 3rd). Guy hits a single up the middle. Man on 1B just turns to celebrate the win. Other team touches 2nd base, game over.
  6. They needed a roster slot for Peavy, and Workman is not available to pitch at all until Saturday after starting on Tuesday. After the 14 inning game, the Sox needed some bullpen options, and Workman was kind of a dead arm, per se, until Sat. I'd expect a phantom DL stint for someone about this time tomorrow so that Workman can get back up here and into the pen.
  7. That was just.....wow!!!
  8. He's still got a baby face. If he's older than he says, it's only a year. He looks really young still
  9. The bullpen is really starting to look good with the likes of Uehara, Britton, Workman, Thornton, Breslow, Tazawa, and 1 more (RDLR, Morales, Webster?). I would much rather roll the dice with that group than to give up a prospect for a BP arm. Side note - if Uehara ever needed the day off, I would love to see how Workman did in the 9th.
  10. Does Workman remind anyone else of Papelbon? Not that he'll ever be as good as Pap in a relief role, but Workman absolutely pounds the strike zone, doesn't back down to anyone, and lives away from the middle of the plate. My guess is that, with the recent downturn in Tazawa's stuff, Workman becomes a key 8th inning guy for the Red Sox.
  11. Now that Iglesias is gone, it's either Bogaerts or Middlebrooks at 3B. It's being reported that the Red Sox are considering Bogaerts, though a call up is not imminent. Current slash lines in AAA: Middlebrooks - .253/.319/.445 (.764 OPS), 8 HR, 30 RBI Bogaerts - .279/.383/.481 (.864 OPS), 8 HR, 24 RBI It should be noted that Bogaerts hit .318 with a .968 OPS in July, and has a .950 OPS against LHP in AAA. Middlebrooks hit .238 with a .682 OPS in July, and has a .864 OPS vs LHP. But - Bogaerts doesn't have a ton of experience at 3B, and he'd be learning a new position along with making adjustments to MLB pitching. Interesting to see how this turns out.
  12. Wanted Lee. Expected Peavy.
  13. Reminds me of the Yankees signing Youk to cover for ARod
  14. Could 100% see Doubront dealt to Angels for Kendrick Edit - scratch that, thought Kendrick was much better than he is.
  15. What I expected to happen. Wonder if WMB takes 3B duties now? That'd be my assumption, although he's not hitting well and Bogaerts has nearly 100 OPS points on him.
  16. Iglesias better be the centerpiece
  17. If we give up a top 10 prospect for Peavy I'll be irate
  18. You do realize JBJ was already pulled, no? He's obviously in a potential deal. Sounds like Iglesias also involved.
  19. I'd say Iglesias being taken out for Snyder is not exactly a 'defensive replacement'
  20. If Bradley is dealt it's for Cliff Lee and Cliff Lee only, since Stanton is not available and Bogaerts isn't pulled
  21. Agree - new reports are out that Phillies will eat a lot of Lee's salary. If so, that allows Sox to resign Ellsbury.
  22. If we are trading Jackie Bradley, I have to think we are getting Lee and Young
  23. JBJ was just pulled from AAA game
  24. Workman just pounds the zone. And stays away from the middle. He can command all of his pitches, I think he will be around for a while. Very solid #3/#4
