  1. Wow Miller got freaking squeezed there.
  2. Settle on in, Miller. Keep it going.
  3. I put together a video honoring Fausto Carmona's unreal baserunning abilities. Enjoy!
  4. WTF is Francona's obsession with McDonald?!?
  5. Can we get some NSFW images on this thread so I'm not continuously disappointed when I click here??
  6. Dont worry man. It's just a $150 fine, no big deal. It goes toward the site anyway.
  7. To be fair, BPEF yesterday said
  8. MVP - Don't compare Ortiz to McDonald. I don't care how you cut it. Look at the splits. McDonald has a .414 OPS vs LHP this year. No excuse to hit him with bases loaded instead of Ortiz.
  9. Dunno, just heard him K with RISP a couple innings ago, and then GIDP last inning. I haven't watched the game much. Boxscore has him 1-5 with a leadoff HR and 7 LOB.
  10. Looks like Scutaro is pretty much brutal with RISP today.
  11. From ESPNBoston - -- Darnell McDonald and Mike Cameron were a combined 7-for-67 (.104) in June with only one more extra-base hit than John Lackey.
  12. Who would have guessed that we would have a better record through 80 games last season (48-32) than we do this season (46-34)? Crazy.
  13. I'm not sure if you were talking about me here, but Drew and Cam are far from my favorites. I do think that players like that get hot and cold. I don't think they would produce above average, but league average wouldn't be out of the question. Now, if we were talking about Pedroia, I'd defend him to my death.
  14. I think if we've learned anything from Cameron, it's that you can't expect a player to put up numbers consistent with his baseball card while only allowing him to play twice a week. Players like Drew and Cam get into a groove that results from a substantial amount of at bats strung together. What we need is an everyday RF, not a RF who plays vs LHP, especially with our lefty heavy line up translating to opposing managers lining up a lot of LHP against us. Carlos Beltran would be perfect. The Mets are 5.5 back in the WC right now. Hopefully they sweep the Yankees, bomb to the trade deadline, and sell Beltran. The only way they get anything in return for Beltran is if they trade him. If they retain him, he can't even be offered arbitration if they wanted to because of a clause in his contract.
  15. Hopefully Reddick can continue this hot streak to the deadline. He's 5/7 against LHP this year, and he's got a 1.198 OPS. If he can just be a .300 hitter with around an .850 OPS, he and Drew can get us to the ASB.
  16. Hopefully he's found whatever it is that he's been doing wrong and can get into a groove. I said this about Crawford after his April, and I'll say this about Drew right now. I don't care what his numbers turn out to be this season. Give me the back of the baseball card from today going forward, and I'll be happy. If that means Drew ends up hitting .260 this year, fine. But if we get a .275/.380/.430 line from today on, we'll win a lot of games.
  17. Great news that they DFA'd Cameron. The only downer about it is that Cam seemed to be a great guy. I wish he was an arrogant prick that I would have no ill feelings toward DFA'ing him, but everyone loved him, he was always great with the fans, etc. It's too bad he was horrific.
  18. Clearly Darnell has some sort of blackmail on Francona and he's hanging it over Tito's head. How Francona continues to start Darnell, I don't have a clue. I would rather see Cam out there than Darnell, easily. And the fact that Francona watches him hit .100 and the moves him UP in the order?!? Come on Tito. Get a freaking clue.
  19. Darnell McDonald hitting, wait for it....SECOND today. Bahahahaha. Thanks Francona. RED SOX (45-34) Ellsbury CF McDonald RF Gonzalez 1B Pedroia 2B Varitek C Reddick LF Sutton 3B Scutaro SS Jon Lester LHP (9-4, 3.66) Just wow. Nice lineup there, Tito. Very nice. Why not hit Scut 2 and Mac 8 if you want Pedey 4? Or go Ells - Reddick - Pedey - Gonzo?
  20. By the way - After going 1-5 so far on this road trip, I'm going to be paying extra close attention to the all star game this year. When is the NL going to evolve with the times and adopt the DH?? The good thing about last night was that Lackey outhit any DH we could have put in there (Drew, Cam, Mac, Sutton, Tek). Also - The Red Sox are 37-21 (.638) in games where Ellsbury gets a hit. They're 8-13 (.381) in games in which Ellsbury goes 0-fer. That guy is our spark plug. We gotta get him going .
  21. Lackey threw really well yesterday. Very encouraging. I hope he's not turning into a DiceK, though, where he goes out and throws fantastic, then has a blow up outing.
