  1. Youkilis is going to turn into Lowell 2010/Michael Young 2011. He will play a little 3rd, a little 1st, a little LF, and a little DH. The kid is a top 50 prospect in the MLB, the Sox top prospect, the future 3B, and he is hitting .310 with a 1.070 OPS, and has just 3 fewer HR than Ortiz in less than 1/3 of the games. He is 6th on the team in HR, 7th in RBI, and has played 10 of the teams 34 games. You cannot touch this guy because what he is doing right now is clearly working. The absolute last thing you want to do is move a 23 year old middle of the order hitter to a different, unknown position where his ABs can be affected by his defense. Look, you've struck gold with WMB. Why would you change that for an aging player who hasn't hit well since July of last season, is on the DL often, can't play very good defense, and is likely a clubhouse problem based on his attitude.

  3. And FWIW, Nava has a career .384 OBP in 64 MLB games. That's a solid line.
  4. I'm still not sure that this is a post season team, but if the rotation can throw like they are capable and pitch to the back of their baseball cards from today forward, we may be able to be in the hunt come September. Forget the season ERA. Give me the back of the baseball card from 5/14 through the end of the year and we will be a team vying for the 2nd WC.
  5. Wow. It's amazing how well this team plays when it gets some quality starts strung together. Keep the ball rolling. Also, the bullpen has quietly lowered its ERA to a 3.73 (not counting McDonalds outing). Melancon has been looking very solid in AAA. Hopefully he figured something out. Last - lets hope this SP staff can keep the line moving and string together a few rotations of quality starts. That's how this team can get back into this thing and at least be relevant. The SP has to carry them to June or July when guys like Ells and Craw are back. And by the way, Crawford is going to be an impact player the 2nd half of the season. Sig that.
  6. Good point - Eat the majority of his contract and get a low level prospect with decent upside in return. But that would likely require showcasing him, which is what I'm trying to avoid.
  7. Drafted from IFA when he was 25. Not a 16 year old draftee who has spent 11 years in the minors like you'd like to make people believe.
  8. Oh. And I guess I didn't mention sending a prospect over with Youkilis. Oh wait, yeah I did.
  9. Went to the game today. Absolutely beautiful day for baseball. First time in a while they strung together good hitting and good pitching. Three consecutive quality starts from the starters. Funny how this team is actually capable of winning when the starters give them a chance to win. In games started by Doubront and Bard, the Red Sox are 8-6. Which, of course, means that in games started by Beckett, Lester, and Buchholz, the Sox are 7-12 (Cook started 1 game). That's pathetic from your top 3.
  10. I feel like I should reiterate. I have never been to a Buchholz start in which the Red Sox have left. The Sox should give me free tickets to every Buchholz start.
  11. The SFF At Buch's Game Mojo appears to be in full effect tonight. I have never been to a game where he has pitched and the Sox have lost. Let's hope that trend continues!!
  12. Is it really possible for the Sox SP to be THIS bad?? I mean, Lester 4.29 ERA, Bard 4.94 ERA, Doubront 5.01, Beckett 5.97, Buchholz 9.09?? Look at those numbers!! For any of those numbers to return to career norms, there is going to have to be some lights out pitching.
  13. If anyone is interested, RedSox.com has 17 Green Monster seats available for tomorrow nights game at face value.
  14. How did Andrew Miller look on tv? I was in the RF bleachers, so I couldn't tell how he did. Looked pretty solid from out in RF, though. Was he getting calls to go his way, getting squeezed, how was his velocity, etc?
  15. I just got tired of getting the rug pulled out from underneath me every single game. So, now I just don't expect them to win. And when they don't win, it's not a big deal because I don't expect this team to win. And when they do win, it's exciting. EDIT: Or, I don't know. I think it's exciting. I can't remember.
