  1. Rays losing. Yanks losing. Sox winning. Keep the trend going.
  2. Nava has no power. He's such a slug! Haha a700 :harhar: Atta boy Nava!!!
  3. There's a difference between not wanting it to happen and respecting the game and the opportunity a player has. I want CC to get lit up everytime, but unless he's throwing against the Sox, I won't try to jinx a perfect game or a no hitter because those things are pretty special.
  4. Anyone remember that game in 2010 when Lester was facing the M's and was absolutely dominating (I think no hitter through 7). Then in the 8th, Darnell misplayed a ball in CF, and Lester just melted down and the Sox lost?
  5. Worked really well in the 3rd game of the Detroit series. But since then, not so much. Bobby V is doing it with the wrong hitters. Too many times with guys like Shoppach or Ross who don't play make a lot of contact to begin with.
  6. Aviles is on struggle street lately. Hitting .200/.230/.285 over his last 16 games.
  7. Alright. Way to put 2 on the board. Vargas looks very hittable tonight.
  8. And put him where? In the bullpen? You have no idea how he'll do in the bullpen, and he isn't going to be on an innings limit, at least not nearly as much as Felix.
  9. I wouldn't call it a steal. Desmond hasn't had an OBP over .300 since 2010 (.308) and he has a career OPS of .693. He had a .656 OPS last season. Sox would be gambling that, since he's a dead pull hitter, he would have success at Fenway.
  10. This is the most empty I've seen the park since a tour I went on last year.
  11. Because if we get another SP, we will have to kick someone out of the rotation. Bard is the guy who should be on an innings limit, and he is lights out when he comes out of the bullpen. It's just the most logical fit. But I'd be ok with getting a guy like Rick Ankiel or even Ian Desmond, which would allow us to move Aviles to LF. Edit: Eh. Nevermind. I don't want Ankiel. I didn't realize his stick was so bad. Just know he's got a cannon.
  12. It's sad, isn't it? The FO's job should be to put the best team on the field that has the best chance to win games. But instead, money rules all. Usually the highest paid players are the best players, but in some cases, much like this, that isn't the case, but GM's have no balls outside of maybe a guy like Friedman.
  13. Yup. I think Ross and WMB both leave the yard tonight.
  14. Peter Gammons just mentioned on the pregame that the Nat's have a scout over here watching the Sox catchers because Ramos went down and is out for the season. Trade Salty, call up Lavarnway? Yes, please! Wonder what we could realistically get for Salty. Likely a guy like John Lannan, who the Nat's have been actively shopping. He'd be a guy you could slide into that 5th slot and put Bard back into the bullpen. That wouldn't be a bad move at all.
  15. And for what it's worth, most people are saying Rolen is done for good (sports writers, etc). I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see Youk dealt to CIN.
  16. Problem isn't Middlebrooks' small sample size. Problem is Youkilis and he's got a more than adequate sample size. Since July 17th, Youk has hit .197/.297/.342. That's a total of 53 games, and over 220 plate appearances. He's had 23 BB's and 50 K's. This isn't the small sample of Middlebrooks. This is time to move on from Youkilis, and we are extremely fortunate to have a guy like Middlebrooks who is ready. Now it's up to the FO to make the right decision and let Middlebrooks prove that he shouldn't be starting at 3rd base instead of having Youkilis try to prove that he should. You'll win a whole lot more games with WMB there than you will with Youk scuffling, and coming off an injury.
  17. Cherrington has to know that if he keeps on putting Youkilis out there and Youk either A)keeps trying to play injured or keeps sucking like he has been, they're just throwing games away. If you look at how well Middlebrooks has been playing and producing runs night in and night out, there is zero justification in sending him back down. I know it's only been 10 games, but look at his numbers. 10 G, 4 HR, 5 2B, 13 RBI, .310 Average, 1.070 OPS. Those are the kinds of numbers you pray that you get from a guy like Adrian Gonzalez. And you're getting them from a 23 year old kid.
