  1. 23 K's in first 35 games in 2011 27 K's in first 35 games in 2012 He's not just taking strike 3 and not protecting. Eyes can be deceiving. That's why we have stats.
  2. They're not trying to contend, though. They're trying to rebuild.
  3. If there was ever a team that needed Youkilis, it would be the White Sox. And no, ORS, I'm not saying this in part of my Thornton trade. I just saw today, the White Sox are getting a .413 OPS (!!!!) from their 3B this season. That's eye popping. The Reds aren't doing much better - .492.
  4. Come on just get through 5. Bunt Bunt Bunt.
  5. He hit 40 in San Diego. Through 35 games last season, Gonzalez had 4 HR. This year he's got 2. He ended up with 17 by the ASB. Let's give it a bit before we think his swing has just gone to s***.
  6. Not sure if you're being serious or not. He has been crushing lately. In his last 11 games, he's hitting .375/.434/.563.
  7. Ahh. Nothin like shaking things up once we start winning games. Good job, Cherry. Do you understand this concept of trying to win?
  8. Has Aviles lost it or has Aviles lost it?!? The guy is expanding the zone worse than just about anyone I've seen. He's swinging 0-1 at pitches that aren't even close. Man. That's brutal.
  9. Not to mention that Sweeney and Ross look like they are going to be an extremely valuable platoon in RF. So it's not like we are putting out a couple Darnell out in RF against all pitchers. Kalish has time to get back in shape. He will be the RF in 2013, for sure. Along with Iggy, WMB, and Lavarnway. Could Barnes make a few starts for the Sox in 2013? Either way, this team will have a nice infusion of young, high caliber talent to go along with the veterans.
  10. Seriously. Hey we just won 4 in a row, playing great baseball. Lets shake it up.
  11. Beckett's last line: 2.1 IP, 7 ER (27.00 ERA) Red Sox Starting Pitching since then: 27.1 IP, 6 ER (1.98 ERA) Keep the ball rolling!!! Like I said, this team always seems to get hot right around Mother's Day. Hopefully this is the hot streak we were looking for, and isn't just fools gold.
  12. Beckett can definitely keep the ball rolling tomorrow. Buchholz always throws well against the Rays. Keep the wins coming!!! Seems like the SP really feed off of each other. Again - This is exactly how this team can get back into the race.
  13. Lester's ERA is down to 3.71. Trending the right way.
  14. What's more impressive, 4 consecutive QS, or 3 consecutive games under 3 hours??
  15. Poor guy. Absolutely fantastic outing, either way.
  16. At least give him the chance to finish it. This is the game we've all been waiting for.
  17. Put him back out there for the 8th.
  18. See? There ya have it. 2 bloops go for hits. Then a screaming LD turns into a DP.
  19. Lester is fine. 75 pitches? A jam shot and an infield single. Doesn't need the pen quite yet.
  20. It was a much, much better outing than he had been having. Definitely a step in the right direction. Say what you will about it, but the results were there.
  21. Ya know what I've noticed? Bobby Valentine went out and basically lit into Buchholz when he started to struggle in his start against the Guardians early in the game. You could tell he was sick and tired of the SP going out there and giving up hit after hit and run after run. It's like he went out there and said "Clay. Quit throwing like a little bitch. You're better than this. You know it, I know it. Lets freaking go. I'm tired of this s***." And then Buch went out and had a good outing. You gotta wonder if Valentine is taking a different approach with these pitchers to try to shake it up a little bit. Be a little more of a stern voice rather than just a passive bystander. Hopefully that's the case because that could be just what they need.
  22. This start from Lester is exactly what this team has needed. Just an absolute dominant start from the top of the rotation. Roll over 2 good to very good starts from Buch, Doub, and Bard, and have Lester start it at the top for another run through. That's how this team gets back into this thing.
