  1. Or if Aviles can field a ground ball. The first 2 runs should have never even been scored by the Orioles. Aviles's defense has been very bad as of late. He seems to be settling back into his career norm.
  2. You know they are still only 3 out, right? And on Friday, they could very well be 1 out.
  3. I agree. I was furious from the get go that we were sitting Middlebrooks after he sat Sunday and had an off day on Monday. Now he's had 3 consecutive days off and his timing is going to be shot. Just an idiotic move by Valentine.
  4. Tomorrow night Middlebrooks better be starting at 3rd. Youkilis looked atrocious at the dish tonight. Meanwhile you have a guy in Middlebrooks who is hitting .390 with a .990 OPS over his past 11 games and you sit him. But the real goat tonight was Aviles, whose error cost 2 runs, and the bullpen for not being able to shut down the Orioles a single time after we scored.
  5. Not a single f***ing shut down inning. Not one. Every single time we scored, the Orioles scored the top of the next inning. Just an absolutely terrible showing from the pitching tonight. Pathetic and nobody would step up. Extremely disappointing loss. Offense showed resilience. Pitching couldn't stop s***ing their pants
  6. While I agree about Blanton, it's beyond ridiculous and crazy to even mention Hamels and Youkilis in the same paragraph.
  7. I'm trying to go to Friday to see Stras v Doubie. That will be a good game. I want to see Harper too.
  8. Not negotiations but a lot of reports of teams scouting. And for him to be playing over a white hot Middlebrooks, you have to think they are trying to prove he is healthy. I can see a move being made sooner rather than later for teams who are in the hunt but need help at a corner IF slot.
  9. I understand that you hate DiceK but look at the situation rationally. DiceK had a 3.07 ERA in his 5 starts prior to hitting the DL last year. Valentine could make a huge difference in DiceK with his understanding of Japanese baseball and how it can translate here (I.e. throwing regimen). And with Bard now out of the rotation for the time being, if DiceK can come in and give us 6+ IP of 3 ER baseball, something he's very capable of, then he makes the team better. How does calling DiceK up to replace a pitcher who the Sox are 4-6 in his 10 starts, how does that translate into turning them into a sub .500 team?? Completely irrational.
  10. He is only scheduled to throw 3 innings. Sounds like a tune up to me. He will start Saturday and you will owe me beer.
  11. Seriously. You don't sit a guy for 3 days in a row when he is hitting .390 with a .990 OPS over the past 11 games. Freaking ridiculous.
  12. Thank God. Go down there and throw every other day. Then come back as your old self. We had 2 experiments going into the season. We got a bad one to be replaced by an experienced starter (DiceK), and an excellent one in Doubront. 1 out of 2 is pretty damn good.
  13. Johnson is a two-way player who could be drafted as a first baseman with some pop but is much more widely seen as a left-handed pitcher. He's an off-speed guy who'll pitch with an average fastball at 88-92 and throws a lot of breaking balls, mostly an above-average big-breaking curve with a two-plane break and tight, visible rotation; he prefers it to his above-average changeup even in conventional changeup counts. The change at 80-84 is solid but not plus, coming out of his hand just like his fastball. He has a show-me slider that he'd be better off scrapping if it doesn't get better. He doesn't have life on his fastball, but commands it well to both sides of the plate. Johnson is very balanced over the rubber and all through his delivery, with a clean and fairly low-effort arm swing. He's a pretty high-probability, low-projection guy who should be in the middle of someone's rotation inside of two years, and could be in the majors in 12 months because minor league hitters won't do much with his off-speed stuff. Player Grades PRESENT FUTURE LOW(MPH) HIGH(MPH) Fastball 50 50 -- -- FB Movement 40 40 -- -- Command 55 60 -- -- Control 60 60 -- -- Curveball 60 60 -- -- Slider 40 40 -- -- Changeup 55 55 -- -- Feel for Pitching -- -- -- --
  14. I'm very disappointed right now. Very.
  15. Cherrington is a huge pussy.
  16. Also Zack Eflin could get picked up here.
  17. I would be shocked if they didn't after the safe pick at 24.
  18. See? I told you McCullers would be available.
