  1. Yeah. Just trying to get under our skin. No surprise. In the good news front - Crawford is spraying line drives everywhere according to Pete Abe. Says he's closed his stance and has a real easy swing. Olney said he expects Crawford back before the end of the month. Also, Ellsbury has hit off a tee for 5 straight days and is coming along well. Kalish is 3-3 again today with ANOTHER homerun, and looks like the year off has only made him better. Anyone who is pessimistic about this season just isn't paying attention.
  2. My dear God. If the biggest thing the Sox need to worry about is Pedroia and Gonzalez, they're going to win a ton of games. Gardner just hit a big setback, but it's all good in New York. The hypocrisy in your post is nauseating. The Nats are a pretty damn good team, and we went 4-5-1 against 1-2-3 in rotations. It's a bit of a mismatch. I do like Lester tomorrow. I guess the Sox could have come back from a 3 game deficit a couple days ago, but 4 back in the WC is just too much to handle. Laughable really.
  3. Man. We're in a big slump with RISP right now.
  4. Location is the last thing to come after TJ. Looks to be the case here.
  5. Good question, and I don't know. I heard it on a broadcast recently, so I don't have the numbers.
  6. I was shocked when I heard this, but I believe the MLB average for scoring in the situation of man on 3rd, less than 2 outs is like 59%. Seems like professional baseball hitters should be much better than that.
  7. I agree he's not right, but he could bust out of it at any minute, that's what I'm saying. He doesn't gradually get hot. He goes from ice cold to white hot in the span of 1 AB. So you don't want to sit him when he could start scorching at any minute. Plus, his defense is elite so even when he's not hitting like normal, he still provides elite defense up the middle.
  8. He had a good year last year and the Sox hit him to a 6.73 ERA. Going into the 1st match up, Gio had a 0.47 ERA. The Sox hit him for 4 ER over 6 IP. Going into the 2nd match up, Gio had a 3.24 ERA. The Sox hit him for 4 ER over 5.2 IP.
  9. Oh man. I thought that hit him in his junk.
  10. Youk. How hard is it to just hit the ball the other way. Honestly.
  11. Sox always hit Gio well, though.
  12. Pedroia 2010: 36 games - .212/.322/.329. Following that: 16 games (until he got hurt) .450/.514/.767
  13. He does this every year. Last year, he went through a spurt of 41 games from 4/22 - 6/8 when he hit .212/.325/.279. He went back to Boston in the 3rd game of the NYY series and got his knee checked out, turned out it was fine. Then from June 10th to August 3rd (47 games), he hit .393/.463/.663. He always goes through a really cold spell right before he gets white hot.
  14. He'll probably be done at around 95-105.
  15. 7 RHH, 2 LHH. Not sure what you're talking about.
  16. Ortiz: .967 OPS, 3 HR in past 10 games. Thread Closed.
  17. This thread is pathetic. You know that if he goes 4-4 today, his average in June will go from .167 to .286. I mean honestly. This is pathetic.
  18. I would be shocked if they waited until seasons end to get him to the MLB. I would think he'll be up my mid August at the latest. This kid is a legitimate player. Gotta remember, he started 2010 in AA, and was with Boston mid-season. He played 53 games and hit 4 HR and stole 10 bags. Even at 22, at a full season he was probably good for 12-15 HR, 25-30 SB. I cannot wait for this kid to get up here and man RF for the future. He's got a freaking cannon too.
  19. Yesterday, I mean it sucked that we lost, but I think Gonzo is really coming out of his slump. He should have had 2 bombs yesterday and a double. He cleaned out 98 and up and in. We have NOT seen that at all this year. Not at all. The fact that he was able to put that into the bullpens if not for Nady, that's a huge step in the right direction. Then he took a LHP deep to CF. The loss sucked, but if I had to choose between losing yesterday and having Gonzo start to break out of his slump, or winning yesterday and watching Gonzo continue to struggle, give me the former. We will win a hell of a lot more games with Gonzo ripping than with him slumping. Get ready fellas. He's about to carry this team.
  20. I agree. Can we make a "Reactionary Game Thread" as well as the regular game thread? I'll admit, I will visit the reactionary game thread occasionally, but only at the beginning of the season. I've since cooled off. Anyway, Sox win today. I'm not sure why everyone is so worried about Gio. He has never had any success against the Sox (28 IP, career 5.79 ERA), and not at Fenway (16 IP, 5.63 ERA). He sucked against the Sox last year, too, 11.2 IP, 6.17 ERA. I think the Sox win today, and Lester shows up tomorrow. Win the series.
