  1. We can only pray that the Sox send Aviles packing and bring up Iglesias. Put Ciriaco at 3B, Iglesias at SS. I'd also like to see Ciriaco get some time in the OF because he'd be a nice UTIL player next year.
  2. This is almost exactly what I thought you'd say. Nice response. And by the way, yeah, sorry, I love this team even during bad seasons. See, a real fan doesn't care more about whether or not they predicted something than about the well being of the team they cheer for. Shouldn't you be a Rays fan by now??? Or, wait, no, I'm sorry. You like to cheer against teams and then be happy when they fail. So...maybe you should be a Twins or a Royals fan. Sorry the Pirates have disappointed you so much this year.
  3. Wow. Crawford to go under surgery on Tuesday??
  4. Dude. Nobody gives a s***. You're 10 times more concerned with being right about a prediction than you are about this team. That's ridiculous. Why would anyone enjoy posts that are all screaming "HAHA THIS TEAM SUCKS AND I TOLD YOU IT WOULD I'M RIGHT!!!!!" It's just annoying.
  5. Wow. This is a horribly inconsistent umpire.
  6. Didn't negate Adrian Gonzalez's value at all when the Sox traded for him. He's not a pitcher, so arm surgery isn't really a huge deal. I would be more concerned with shoulder surgery for a power hitter than I would be for TJ surgery for a position player.
  7. Ha. Watch Crawford blow his elbow flicking a ball into the stands like that. That'd be the Sox luck this year
  8. 2 doubles today? Ho hum.
  9. To be fair, Iglesias is hitting .270 with a .321 OBP as of right now. Those are far from spectacular numbers, but if he can take a walk, move runners over, make productive outs, and get on base with a few bunts and bleeders, his defense will make him a very valuable player. Ozzie Smith had a 4.2 WAR with a .589 OPS in 1981. To put that into context, Hanley Ramirez had a 4.6 WAR in 2010 when he hit .300/.378/.475 with 21 HR, 76 RBI, and 32 SB. But his defense was atrocious. Defense up the middle is absolutely critical. If we can get a .230-.250 average with a .290-.310 OBP from Iglesias, we'll have a very productive SS.
  10. Um. Ciriaco has a 1.8% BB%.
  11. Bogaerts went deep again tonight. Iglesias is hitting .342 in his last 10 games with a .432 OBP. He's taken 6 walks in his past 10 games. He has taken 6 walks in his last 10 games. He only had 21 walks in all of last season. That's a big sign that he's learning himself as a hitter. Plate discipline is always the last to come. Ciriaco had another 4 hit game tonight and lead the Red Sox to a win over the Yankees. Aviles sucks. He has no purpose on this team. At this point, I'd like to see Ciriaco at 3B, Iglesias at SS for the rest of the season.
  12. Went deep again tonight. That's his 3rd in Portland.
  13. I hate to say this, because I really don't agree about catchers affecting a pitchers ERA, but I may be changing my stance. The fact (which has been brought up a lot here) that Salty sets up late really does seem to have affected some of the pitchers. So, here are some numbers for Lester. Lester pitching to: Shoppach: 3.70 ERA, 43 K, 9 BB Lavarnway: 2.25 ERA (14 IP), 11 K, 2 BB Salty: 6.08 ERA, 79 K, 35 BB I mean. It's really hard to argue with those numbers. I really, really hope that Lavarnway gets a lot of the starts at C the rest of the season.
  14. "knee injury" Just call it what it is, FO. It's dead arm. He hit his wall. It's nothing to be ashamed of.
  15. Aviiles is such a little bitch.
  16. Valentine is thinking "Damn. I wish I had Aaron Cook in the bullpen, or Matt Albers right now"
  17. Anyone in here watch Prison Break back when it was on?? Can we please start calling John Lackey "Haywire"??? This is Haywire, for those who didn't watch the show. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/26/Pb_haywire.jpg
  18. Not at all. Valentine was a huge proponent of Iglesias all during ST. I guarantee you he'd rather have Iggy as to Aviles but that's a FO decision.
  19. Scutaro was one of the most underrated bad moves of the offseason. I don't know if the Red Sox overestimated Aviles or Iglesias, or both. Could be that they thought Iglesias would be ready mid season, but he got hurt and was out for about a month. Still, though, Iglesias is hitting .305 with a .379 OBP in August. What are they waiting on??
  20. Oh. My. God. The fact that ball was even CLOSE to being a HR is pathetic.
  21. Hey Pal, how much longer do I have for this POS sig?!?
  22. Thank God we have Aviles.
