  1. I'm absolutely fine with that out. With 2 outs, absolutely.
  2. Uh oh, it's about to be 3-0.
  3. Holy cow swing at the first pitch. His first pitches have been dead red middle middle to all of the first 3 hitters.
  4. Game 1 I was at work. Game 2 I was in the ER (just a migraine, thought it was a mini stroke, I'm 28, scary stuff, thankfully it's ok). This is the first game that ill be on the boards. If we lose, it's my fault. Let's go!!!
  5. Or maybe the team is better than you think they are. Maybe Lester and Buchholz will throw to their career norms, not their aberration. Maybe Victorino will do the same. Maybe Bradley and the defense in the OF will save quite a few runs. Nah, that's impossible. The Red Sox aren't allowed to be good.
  6. You have to be at least slightly concerned with CC's lack of velocity and lack of command in that first game. I know it's early, and CC always struggles early, but he doesn't always have offseason elbow surgery, and he isn't always limited to 2 starts in ST. If it takes him 3, 4, maybe 5 starts to get back into the swing of things and make up for both his missed ST starts and his typical early April struggles, then the Yankees could be in a bad, bad spot come Memorial Day.
  7. Last year, the Red Sox did not win their 2nd game until April 13th, the 7th game of the year. The Sox weren't 2 games over .500 until May 30th. In 2011, the Sox did not win their 2nd game until April 10th, the 9th game of the season. They weren't 2 games over .500 until May 18th. I know it's early. I know it's 2 games. But who cares. I am loving this team right now.
  8. I hope that didn't come across as cocky. I'm just enjoying the moment.
  9. Oh - and side note - Is there anything better than reading the NY Post after the Sox drub the Yankees??
  10. Yup. See: Daniel Bard in Game 1 of 2011 - 0.2 IP, 4 ER (53.73 ERA) Then, See: Daniel Bard, Games 4 (his next appearance) through Game 135: 58 G, 61.1 IP, 1.47 ERA.
  11. Iglesias in 2011: 26 G, 8 H, 0.3 WAR Iglesias in 2012: 2 G, 5 H, 0.2 WAR. And they haven't even computed UZR yet.
  12. To borrow a phrase from the Sox last year, Jeter, Tex, A-Rod, etc can't pitch. The Yankees need their SP, and especially their bullpen, to get better. Even with Jeter, Tex, A-Rod, etc, they're not going to win a lot of games giving up 7 and 8 runs.
  13. Oh - and for all those people who say "You are what your record says you are" This team, right now, is the best team in the AL East and is a top 3 team in the AL.
  14. I do understand the concern - but... The Sox have an outrageously good lineup vs LHP, with Pedrioa, Victorino, Gomes, Middlebrooks, Napoli, and Ross. And these guys hit him well too - Pedroia: 9/40 (.225, not good), but he's got 4 2B, Victorino: 5/9, 1 HR Gomes: 8/22 (.364 average), 1 HR, 7 RBI WMB: No Appearances Napoli: 6/12 (.500), 1 2B Ross: 4/12, 1 2B, 1 3B Others: Ellsbury is 8/20 against him Bradley and Iglesias obviously have no appearances. Either way, the guys we have in our lineup tonight have some good success against Pettitte.
  15. Well, if Nap and WMB are going to struggle, I'd rather see them struggle now while the other guys are putting up crooked numbers. We need them to get hot when the other guys aren't connecting for 2 out RBI's and we need that 3 run bomb.
  16. Where did all of this plate discipline come from for Salty?!?
  17. Wouldn't be the first time we've piggybacked a game on another GT. Then again, wouldn't be the first time we started a new thread w another person bc the original guy wasn't there. My vote goes to piggybacking
  18. I don't know, the past 2 year, to me, felt like we were extremely susceptible to LHP. But maybe that's just a full moon belief.
  19. Well, to be fair, though, righties don't generally have the split problems that lefties have. Guys like Pedroia, Napoli (.866 ops vs rhp last hear, .845 career) and Middlebrooks all hit righties well. Throw those in with Ells, Bradley, and Salty, and that's a pretty solid lineup vs RHP. And as soon as Ortiz and Drew get back, they'll be very good vs RHP.
  20. I'll never understand the day off after OD. Seems dumb. Give the players a day when they need it, like in August. And the fans hate it. Plus, if there were ever a game that a rainout would be easy to make up, it would be the OD game. You literally have ALL YEAR to make it up.
  21. Congratulations kind sir. I hope you enjoyed.
  22. You know what I loved seeing yesterday?? This team FINALLY started grinding out at bats again. 8 walks yesterday. Tons of pitches seen. It's been a few years since we've seen a team go up there, get into pitchers counts, work themselves back into hitters counts, and draw walks or get knocks. Beautiful thing.
