  1. This is fun to watch. EDIT: by 'this', I am not referring to the post above mine.
  2. If there's one thing Buch is good at, it's getting DP balls.
  3. Same ball Iggy turned in Tor.
  4. Nap. Good time for that first Fenway bomb as a Red Sox teammate.
  5. This guys stuff looks flat flat flat. I can't imagine him lasting more than 5 and giving up less than 4
  6. Damn he scorched that. Good sign right there. That's a ball he was fouling off a week ago
  7. Uehara should close for the next few games. I really like Bailey in the 8th inning/being the guy to put out the fires. Uehara doesn't walk anyone and has K's 10+ per 9. Hanrahan needs to get into some low leverage situations and get his confidence back. He was aiming bad today rather than throwing the baseball.
  8. Holy crap!! I've never seen that before!! Haha crazy!!
  9. Don't you guys know anything?!? It's very common knowledge that the biggest effect of taking steroids is the increasing ability for lefties to hit lefties!!! #sarcasm
  10. As a side note - I think Farrell left Hanrahan entirely too long on Wednesday. If a closer can't shut the door in 20 pitches, especially with a 2+ run lead, then you need to find someone else to throw the rest of that inning. The fact that Hanrahan wasn't available last night in-turn made Bailey unavailable in that "key situation". Ideally, you want Bailey in the 8th, but as we saw in NY, having him available in the 7th for an out can be a huge boost. Last night, though, we couldn't use our best arm out of the bullpen because we had to shuffle it up. I would have much rather seen Bailey come out for that 1 out and then used Uehara in the 9th. Bailey seems like he's a better option to get out of a jam than Uehara IMO. He's got the overpowering stuff more than the deceptive stuff.
  11. That Cleveland game got you worried?!?
  12. Tough couple of losses the last couple days. Not worried, though. We're still in first in the East, and we're still playing at a 90 win pace, and we're doing all of this without the most potent bat in our lineup. We out played the O's in 2/3, just imploded in the 9th in the 2nd game. Yeah, Salty K'd in the 9th in an AB where both of the called strikes were outside of the zone, but regardless, this loss falls on Andrew Miller. When you're pumping 98 from the left side with elbows, legs, and arms flying everywhere, why the hell do you go back to a slider down and away on the 2-2 pitch? Or even the 1-2 pitch?? But especially on the 2-2 pitch. That was just a horrible, horrible pitch selection by Salty/Miller.
  13. Everyone relax. Were going to walk off for the first time in 2013 tonight.
  14. For those who are down on the Sox a bit right now because of the blown save last night - have a look at this stat: The Red Sox have not won their first 3 series in a season since 1952. They have a chance to do something tonight that they haven't done in some 60 years. Stay positive fellas. It's a long season, and this is a damn good team.
  15. Boy, has Andrew Bailey ever looked this good?? The guy looks like an absolute stud right now *knock on wood*. Hanrahan will bounce back, I'm not worried about him. One blown save. No problem. Hopefully we have another opportunity for him today to get out there and pump out 3 quick outs, get his confidence back.
  16. By the way - I was at the game last night until the 5th inning (wife was in a workout class, got hit in the head, concussion, had to take her to the ER). Anyway - I was sitting in the pavilion box seats on the 1B side, and I caught the foul ball that Adam Jones hit on his 1st pitch in the 1st inning. It was awesome. First foul ball I've ever caught!
  17. Aceves vs Tillman. Put the loss behind you. Win the series.
  18. Tough loss last night. Put it behind you. Win the series. That's the ultimate goal. Win every series. Last night didn't prevent that. Go out there and win tonight. Oh - Side note - Obviously Hanrahan's BS hurts because it was in the 9th, but that was a sloppy sloppy game by our OF. Can't be giving away outs in the 1st inning and expect to win.
  19. Lineup is out - Ellsbury CF Victorino RF Pedroia 2B Napoli 1B Middlebrooks 3B Nava DH Salty C Drew SS Bradley Jr LF Dempster RHP Not that I should be surprised, but adding Drew really makes this lineup look much, much deeper. When Ortiz gets added, the lineup is going to be pretty stout.
  20. Fixed it for you.
  21. Couple quick stats: The Red Sox SP have a 2.45 ERA this year. I'm not sure we rattled off 7 consecutive games to a 2.45 ERA at any point last year. The Sox bullpen has a 3.92 ERA, 9 ER in 20.2 IP. But - of those 9 ER, Aceves has allowed 5 ER in 4.1 IP. The rest of the bullpen? 4 ER in 16.1 IP, a 2.20 ERA.
  22. I've got pavillion box seats tomorrow night. Really hoping the rain stays away. But my gem this year is monster seat tickets for the Patriots Day game. Got lucky and was drawn for the game. Can't freaking wait. Supposed to be around 65 on Monday.
  23. It's oddly reminiscent of the Middlebrooks situation, no? When he check swing and looked like he busted his wrist again, then it was just scar tissue. Sounds like this maybe have just been a cramp, which is ideal. His strength tests came back fine, and it sounds like his symptoms had resolved by the end of the game. Like BTR, I'm ok with the loss mainly because there was a bigger picture in this game - Lackeys health, and I'd gladly trade 1 loss for him being ok. On a side note, the general rule of thumb is to go .500 on the road and make your money at home. With Gomes, Nap, Ells, Pedey, Drew, Salty, etc, this team should be built for a lot of home victories. Hope we win tomorrow, but coming home .500 is fine with me, especially without Ortiz in the lineup. If Ortiz gets back in the 3rd week of April, this team is going to be fine. Nap certainly needs to find his stroke, though.
