  1. But then he won't win his Gold Glove!!
  2. 1. Pedroia got picked running on a great stealing count, 1-2 when the pitcher is likely to throw something off speed. That's just tough luck. 2. Napoli got hung up doing the exact same thing that Gomes did in NY and everyone loved him for it. Don't be hypocritical about it. If you don't like SB and aggressive base running, then don't be pumped when it works and pissed when it doesn't. Understand that aggressiveness does sometimes run into outs, but the way the Sox been aggressive, it's been a controlled aggressiveness to hedge against too many outs.
  3. I have no idea why Ciriaco even threw that to begin with. He had no shot. That was just really really really dumb.
  4. 6 straight balls. TAKE A BLEEPING STRIKE YOU IDIOT!!!!!!!
  5. Pedroia got screwed because the HP ump is an arrogant jerk and didn't like that Pedey started to 1b before he called the pitch. I despise umpires so much.
  6. Need the sticks to come alive. Lets go!
  7. Well he's 27 and playing has never played more than 61 games in the MLB.
  8. He was never ranked as a top 100 prospect. Not sure what you're referring to here.
  9. Also would hit better than Drew is right now. Dammit. Get the sticks going.
  10. http://www.tampabay.com/sports/baseball/rays/rays-tales-former-rays-on-deck/2116428 At the bottom under Rays Rumblings or something.
  11. Pumped to get to see Allen Webster today!!! Not sure if people have talked about this yet, I tried going back a few pages but just saw a bunch of fighting. Anyway, lets hope he makes it hard to send him back down, even though they obviously have to because he's the 26th man in the DH. Either way, I have a feeling that Webster is going to be on Doubronts heals pretty soon, unless Doubie can somehow figure out how to be efficient.
  12. To be fair, Nap has been crushing lately. Last 6 games: .346 Avg, .885 OPS, 9 RBI. He's also got 16 RBI on the season after only 14 games. Adrian Gonzalez didn't get his 16th RBI last year until May 7th, 28 games into the season.
  13. Right now, the Sox have scored an average of 4.92 runs per game. That would be good for 798 runs over 162 games, which would be 3rd best in the MLB in 2012. And this is without Ortiz. Like I said before the season started. This is a playoff team. Get excited.
  14. T shirt idea: Umyhero Uehara. Thoughts?
  15. What in the hell took so long?!?!?
  16. Haha we've been winning with my limited participation. I'm still here, reading, just don't want to jack up any mojo!
  17. Wow. Sox got screwed twice that inning.
  18. This is the 2012 revenue generated by each team (LINK HERE): http://static4.businessinsider.com/image/5154a429eab8ea8670000014-608-457/untitled-2-200.jpg The Sox, at $336mm, are a top dog in terms of generating revenue, and that's with a park that fills ~10k less than most other ballparks. There's just a ton more interest in Boston than other teams. As a700 pointed out, revenues coincide with the term "big market". This is a perfect example of that. Without looking at the graph, I would think the Sox, Yanks, Phils, and Cubs have the biggest markets, and that's confirmed by the revenues generated.
  19. When I say "big market" I am not talking about the population of the city. I'm talking about the intensity of the city. I'm talking about New York, Boston. The cities where there are as many beat writers grilling you for answers as there are players on the team. Where people live and breath baseball. Boston is a much, much, much bigger baseball town than LA. I mean, if we're going solely by the population of the city, Miami has 5 million people in that surrounding area. So are they a bigger market than Boston? No, the definition of "big market" isn't population, it's the microscope that the players have to play under.
  20. Crawford in Boston: 161 G, 0.1 WAR Crawford in LA: 14 G, 1.0 WAR. Haha. Some guys just can't perform in the bigger markets. Cherrington did a good job to acknowledge that players aren't just robots with WAR and other stats. He actually pursued players who thrive in big market environments. Well done.
  21. Do we all still think it's just a coincidence that the last time Farrell was here, Lester and Buch were outstanding. And now, this year, they're a combined 5-0, 0.88 ERA so far?? He's having a huge impact.
