    OPS is even a very flawed stat because it weighs SLG and OBP the same, when its actually much more difficult to get to 1B than it is to get extra bases rather than just to first base. See: Salty wOBA and wRC+ are much better indicators of offensive value than OPS in my opinion.

    His 4 seamer averaged 95.45, topped out at 98, which is consistent with his ST results. Plus I actually got to sit behind the Sox FO and they had a gun on Webster which I was able to read, and he was 94-97, touching 99.

    Well, Lackey is throwing in AA today and, if all goes well, will make his next start on Saturday. Aceves gets his final spot start tomorrow, so Webster obviously wouldn't be able to take that start. If Lackey hits some kind of a speedbump, I can see the Sox considering this. Otherwise, Aceves moves to the pen, Wilson gets demoted, and Lackey starts on Saturday.

    Lavarnway is quietly hitting .297/.426/432 in AAA with 2 doubles and a HR in 10 games so far. Don't sleep on him.

    The good news is that we got Lester going on Wednesday. He's good for a W. Steal one of these first 2 against Griffin or Colon and take 2/3 from the A's. The better news is that we're hosting the Astros for 4 this weekend. They're giving up 5.40 runs per game, scoring 4.11. We got Buch, Dempster, Lackey, and Doubront going against them. We should sweep, but taking 3/4 would be fine. I fully expect the Sox to be 18-7 or 17-8 by next Monday

    I understand that, but with Napolis 32.9% K Rate and Middlebrooks' 30.2% K rate, I don't want another huge K rate, and at least Gomes (26.5%) is an improvement over Saltys horrendous 35.6%. That's disgusting.

    Don't know why we didn't DH Napoli, put Carp at 1B, and Gomes in LF. I would much rather see Gomes than Salty right now.
