  1. Also, we're stuck going over and over the same tired arguments here. Can't wait for the games to start so we have something else to talk about.
  2. I for one wouldn't. You don't hand out a $20mil/year extension to a middle of the rotation guy before he's made a single pitch for you.
  3. You dont get text alerts when someone posts something negative about the Sox on here?
  4. *even more
  5. We know he already doesn't give a s*** about his weight, so how likely is he to play well enough to justify an even bigger contract? Would not be shocked if he declines rapidly and irreversibly.
  6. What's the incentive to be a good soldier when he's got 95 million large ones coming down the pike?
  7. well, this thread took a detour.
  8. It was dump truck (not Ferrari) that made me think of the connection.
  9. Trade him to Japan where he can go on the sumo circuit.
  10. If they didn't want him, why even bother with the low-ball offer? To appease the fans? Didn't they know how the lowball offer would look? Either way, they thought they could get away with this philosophy about contracts to pitchers, and they were wrong. They proved this by paying Price instead of still staunchly sticking to their guns in the face of mounting evidence that they were wrong.
  11. I think they wanted him, but they wanted their cake and to eat it too (that phrase doesn't make any sense, but whatever). They wanted him on their super-conservative terms. Their philosophy makes sense but baseball is not a game of sense nowadays, sadly. The market is what the market is.
  12. The fact is the game is ruled by pitching and you saw how Ben's philosophy of go with a rotation of middling pitchers and try to mash the way to the series played out. They probably could have had Lester for less than they paid Price. Yes, it was a knee jerk but they were forced into it by the totally wrong-headed philosophy leading us to this point. I don't consider it unwise. Look, I totally agree big contracts to older pitchers are not good. I am the first in line to abolish guaranteed contracts. But we were stuck, Price was the best guy out there, and they paid what it took to get him. I don't have much of a problem. After seeing Porcello and co crap the bed, I would rather pay the going rate for a bona fide ace than have another subpar year missing the playoffs. Price gives us a puncher's chance of the playoffs this year, but for my money the rest of the rotation is still too much of a question mark.
  13. I've got an Aerosmith song to play you.
  14. fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
  15. Cos you don't go to the games. I looked at the prices. Then I laughed. Then I clicked X.
  16. I predict Hanley hope --> Hanley nope.
  17. "We better teach this kid some control before he kills somebody."
  18. Didn't they say that before the start of last season? I think the effort waned throughout the season.
  19. Speaking of inmates and violence, such a shame a gate was accidentally left open, allowing an inmate to give James Holmes a beating.
  20. mlb.tv is unwatchable for me, and many others complain about it, no matter their connection speed. Jacoby Ellsbury will back me up on this, it's a poor product.
  21. Seriously? You watch all 162? Good for you.
  22. Speaking of everyone's favorite announcer.... “I think Tim Wakefield would even say tonight that Tim Wakefield got to Tim Wakefield tonight." "It's a five letter word, S-T-R-I-K-E." "Mt. Everest erupts again!" "that pitch was up and in, but it wasn't up and in."
  23. I'm very much believe it when I see it in most things when it comes to sports.
  24. People still watch this boring-ass sport?
