  1. Do us all a favor. Go take an hour long shower please.
  2. The bullpen cannot handle this kind of workload. Can the Sox forfeit?
  3. This would not be bothering me so much if the Sox weren't getting shut out again by s***** pitchers night after night after night.
  4. Is it just me, or does this offense look like it gets lazy, and likes to take days off?
  5. I liked the move at the time, and with the information we were given, I would probably make the same move again. Based on the insane market conditions for relief this offseason, he looked like an absolute steal. An AL East pitcher with 3 consistent years for 3/1? Even if his ERA regressed closer to his FIP, he would still have been an incredibly serviceable option for middle innings. I want to give him time, but I agree with the Red Sox that phantom DLing was definitely the right move here.
  6. Anyone know if Mcdonald has options left?
  7. Oh, its an early game today? The Angels are going to get absolutely exhausted. Atleast the Sox are home.
  8. So I think based on how the season has gone so far, the bullpen is worth talking about again. It seems to me that while we had originally thought of it as a strength, it has turned into a major weakness, and the strange thing is... it really doesn't have to be a weakness. Instead of worrying about success within the bullpen, the team is worried about depth in the bullpen, and bullpen management has started to seriously hurt this team. They need to make some significant moves soon, because we can't continue to carry 4 relievers whose sole value is mop-up duty. Bard had some early season issues, but he's a lock now with 0 ER in his last 10 appearances. Papelbon is baaack. Albers is looking like one of those brilliant offseason moves right now. 0.93 ERA, high strikeouts, lots of success so far. If he hasn't earned 7th inning duty yet, he will soon. Wheeler-- 11.32 ERA. He has averaged about 21 ER a year for the last three years. So far this year, he has 13 ER. What the happened to this guy? Judging by the intermittent use of him, is this an injury? Jenks-- Same situation. Based on past performance, I don't mind waiting these guys out..... But Okajima? He didn't have the stuff to get major league batters out last year, and doesn't look like he does this year either. Wakefield? He had an impressive game against Felix. Can he beat any team other than Seattle? With Atchison/Aceves/Doubront/Bowdon/Hill all waiting in AAA, what is the point of carrying some of these guys? Atchison has allowed 1 ER in AAA all year, and showed he's a competent 6th inning guy last year. Aceves has dominated in the majors this year. What do these guys need to do to get some playing time?
  9. Say what you want about the rest of the season, the game last night was won and lost by the coaching staff. Putting Wakefield in a one-run game, with someone on first and third is simply idiotic. There are so many things that can go wrong to lose them that game-- passed ball, sac fly, even a hit or two walks. This is not a matter of hindsight where it makes sense at the time, and not so much afterwards, this was a bad idea at the time, and it lost them the game.
  10. Masterson is incredibly overrated right now. As a player, he simply has no way to get out left handed batters, and never has. A 1.53 WHIP against LHH in 2011 is not ace material. Worse still, in his 4 of his 6 games, he has pitched against seattle, baltimore, or kansas city.
  11. As a Celtics fan, I full recognize that Pierce and Garnet are players I would loathe on any other team. I also recognize that the Heat won game 2 based on their defense. However, the referees in the NBA very frequently determine the outcome of games, and that is a huge problem, especially in the playoffs, and Celtics fans have the right to complain about it until it is fixed.
  12. I think the importance of stroking egos has changed dramatically since this new group of players has come through town. Francona was a lot more valuable when he had a lot of raw talent players with big personalities (aka, idiots) that he needed to handle. Right now, the team is incredibly professional, and besides Pedroia, how many big personality guys will be on this team next year?
  13. An hour ago, the front page article on sports.yahoo.com/mlb was a big article titled "No joy in Minnesota"
  14. Haha, I'm just messing with you. I actually like a lot of Cleveland's players.
  15. And the Sox are out of the cellar again!
  16. Nice work Liriano. He needed that badly. I'd love to see the Twins make a charge. Hell, I don't care who does it, as long as someone takes down Cleveland, I don't care
  17. Kind of looks like the day after thanksgiving dinner in the Papelbon's men's room:lol:
  18. And just a reminder.... This is without Kevin Youkilis.
  19. Oh hey. This is what an elite offense is supposed to look like.
  20. I'm done watching the Celtics. This is baseball season.
