  1. And then that catcher will get ragged on for for considering his own health over the team. If Salty backed away, and didn't block the plate, how much s*** would he get?
  2. In all fairness, Dice-k DOES.
  3. Pedroia and A-gon didn't do any damage, but racking up a pitch count certainly helps.
  4. And just as he appeared, he disappears.
  5. Youker is back!! Hooray!
  6. If you mask your ip, can you see games that are normally blacked out in your area?
  7. Its raining. Postpone the game to the end of the season.
  8. Ellsbury with a leadoff hit. This lineup is amazing right now.
  9. When was Bowden called up?
  10. Carlos Santana was taken out the same exact way last season. For any other position in baseball, I'd say suck it up, but good catchers are so rare, and have so many injuries as it is. And with baseball putting more emphasis on defense and speed after the end of the steroid era, it is only going to get worse for catchers.
  11. I can't believe what a juggernaut this team has turned into. They're playing .700 baseball since the 2-10 start, despite suffering a lot of injuries to their team's depth.
  12. Andy Oliver has a 7.36 ERA... My question is, during what inning will he piss himself?
  13. I'm pleasantly surprised by their success. I should be around TS for the third period.
  14. If there are slow runners on base in front of him, it doesn't matter if they are on 1st/2nd, they'll slow him up in one way or another at some point. If there is one runner, who is at 3rd, that is less of a problem, but that situation is less common. That being said, I still agree with you-- having too much offensive talent is a good problem to have.
  15. JD Drew, this team's current #6 hitter, has been hitting with runners on in 70 of his 148 plate appearances. Actually, right now Drew has an abyssmal .454 OPS with RISP, so maybe Crawford at 6 might make more sense than we thought, considering that he has value beating out the DP as well.
  16. If you're going to move Crawford up, I would argue that putting him 2nd makes more sense than 3rd. Of all the left handed hitters on this team to be doubled up, Ellsbury is the best because he has had incredibly even splits throughout his career. If you have Ells/Craw/Pedroia together, you want one of the elite speed guys hitting in the middle for arguably more double-steals, Pedroia can score either with his monster double numbers, and he sees more fastballs.
  17. Unfortunately, that might be where we see him all year, barring injuries. This lineup is just too friggen good. Ellsbury is an elite leadoff hitter, and shouldn't be messed with. Pedroia is an elite #2 hitter, A-gon... Youk.... Ortiz... Lowrie is showing that he's capable of demolishing lefties, which--in this lineup-- makes him crucial, even though he's been pretty crummy against righties. Drew is going to have a monster OBP, even if he'll have nothing else. That's eight guys who do something really really well, and Crawford is a small round peg in a big square hole. He fits because of who he is, but not necessarily the way we want him to.
  18. Based on what we've seen from Francona, don't expect this. Taking Pedroia out means 5 of the top 6 guys are lefties. He put Lowrie in the 2 spot recently, which shows how resistant he is to that. Maybe it is a coincidence, but when he was moving so many guys around, no one was hitting, and I think he is under the impression that consistency is crucial to keep these guys clicking.
  19. Not sure where else to put this, but this thread seemed relevant enough. His attorney's name is Yager... appropriate.
  20. Shaqabrine is active? Even Miami's big three of Bosh, Wade and Big Z won't be able to close this series now.
  21. I think we're at the point where we had to look at this offense, and realize that no matter where players are hitting, it works. I still think Drew would be far more valuable at the 9 spot, simple because he is walking a lot more than he is hitting at this point, and it just doesn't look like he's going to drive in many runs that way.
