  1. That's unusual, I actually like this lineup.
  2. My first instinct was to just have one of the mods ban Thunder and we all move on with our lives... but this is a double-mojo whammy. When thunder's streak ends, BP comes back and starts the next one. Win-win.
  3. Darnell Mcdonald... wow.
  4. I understand your argument, but you missed one major factor. Of the teams who have a need at DH, none will yield a first round pick. Let's take a serious look at the teams who may be interested. Yankees, Angels, White Sox, Tigers, Twins-- not happening for reasons stated above. Texas Rangers? Michael Young. Guardians? Hafner. Rays/Royals? I don't see them paying a quarter of their salary on a aging slugger, especially since they'll probably want to try to make smart moves locking up young guys early. That leaves the Mariners, Orioles, Athletics, Blue Jays. These are teams at the bottom of the AL. Oakland and Seattle are pitcher's parks, and Seattle/Toronto/Baltimore have almost no chance of making the postseason in the next three years, so they will have to overbid to get him out of Boston.
  5. I like Reddick a lot. But I'm not ready to give RF-- the second strongest offensive position in the majors right now-- to a rookie when our eyes are on the series, unless that rookie is a complete stud like Kalish.
  6. Wow, sounds like an interesting game. What did I miss?
  7. Me? I'm 1-4 for gamethreads. Might want to give it to someone with a better track record
  8. Do you trust anyone enough to give them your password?
  9. Interesting thought, but I really want to stress the point... is anyone else really that interested? Before we get into good fits, 16 teams are already eliminated. The Yankees simply cannot commit to a 3 year DH when they have Jeter and A-rod waiting to move over-- and if they weren't, they'd probably go for Fielder instead. As far as other big market teams? The White Sox have Dunn. The Angels have Abreu. The Tigers have Martinez. The Twins may need to keep it open for often injured Morneau/Mauer. Where else does he really fit? Whoever buys him will have to pay 2-3 extra million per year, and I seriously doubt anyone will want to give him 3 years, or 14+ million.
  10. Varitek has the second highest OPS of any catcher in the majors since May 1st. It is still speculation, but the shoulder injury probably had a lot to do with his hitting issues in April. Now that he's getting a good amount of rest, I see him continuing to do well as the season progress.
  11. That post seriously needs a hilarious .gif next to it. Older DHs are lucky to get 1 year deals. Guerrero only got 6 and 8 the last two years. Manny at age 31, after a 1.031 OPS season, and capable of fielding, got a 2/50 contract. Do you really see Ortiz at 36, after a .900 OPS season, getting a long term deal? There are probably five or less teams who will even entertain the thought of signing him.
  12. Why? Ortiz is hitting LHP now.
  13. In all fairness, last year's team caught on fire in June with monster pitching performances, and Beltre's head getting rubbed an awfully lot. And that was when the wave of injuries hit.
  14. Ortiz will be the DH in 2012. Bud Selig's comments about removing the DH position, will give the Red Sox a ton of leverage to keep him to a 1-2 year deal. And because of those comments, I do not see any team signing Pujols/Fielder as a long term DH, including the Yankees. There have been some murmurings about Lavarnway possibly becoming the heir apparent moving forward.
  15. Baseball plays significantly more games than football. Divisional foes play eachother 18 times in a year,(not sure how AL West/NL Central play against eachother) , 4-8 games against league foes, and 0-6 games against teams outside of their league. Playing more games against teams close-by cuts out significant amount of travel(and dealing with time zone differences for the players/fans), creates rivalries, and determines playoff teams.
  16. Theo on Mike Cameron
  17. Big Papi, the man who ends the skid. Just win!
