  1. Now here is a crazy idea. What about Ichiro? At 38 years olds and on a down year, on a team going nowhere, the Mariners have to be looking at him, and wondering if he's still worth the money they're paying him. Take him out of that pitcher's park, add more protection, and we might see more of the pre-2011 Ichiro. Not only that, but could you imagine an outfield of Crawford, Ellsbury, Ichiro?
  2. I'm still on the fence about Ethier. Based on his advanced stats, he just seems incredibly overrated. Not so great defense, plus he is yet another LHH OF-- we have a ton of those already-- and will cost significant money to hold onto. I'd argue that Lavarnway is this team's best prospect right now, and I'd struggle with adding him to any deal.
  3. I was curious who is on the 40 man roster, and it looks like there are 25 active, 4 on the DL, and these 11. Bowden, Doubront, Hottovy, Atchison, Pimental, Tazawa, Exposito, Iglesias, Anderson, Oscar Tejada, Kalish I don't see Theo "selling low" on players underperforming or recently injured. So that leaves Navarro Bowden, Reddick, Hottovy, Exposito, Tejada, and Anderson. Reddick is the only blue chip in the pile.
  4. Because you're getting the best out of 10 guys to play one to three games. Instead of relying on a rookie who will play up to 19 games. Plus, if a pitcher fails, the bullpen can bail him out. As far as OF depth, you have far fewer options. If this team goes into Philadelphia against Hamels or Lee, this offense is 4 deep, and the next five spots are a blackhole. There will be no outpitching Philadelphia. The best this team can do is outhit them.
  5. Not sure what the point of this dissection is. Buch and Lester were top 5 last year, Beckett is top 5 this year, and none of them have shown any drop in stuff. And when I say ten guys, I mean that we'll take the best of that group and let him pitch. 1.Lackey, 2. Wake, 3. Miller, 4. Doubront 5. Aceves 6. Millwood 7. Tazawa 8. Weiland 9. Atchison 10. Bowden. Sure, half of them are garbage, but that group has 3 All-Stars in it, and rookies with potential. Ten guys, one spot, 2-3 starts in the playoffs. I'm okay with those odds.
  6. Adding pitching won't help this team in the playoffs. They have an elite bullpen, elite defense, elite offense, and three Cy Young contenders, and about ten different guys who could fill in for the one or two other starts in the playoffs. When October comes, I could care less who the #5 starter is. Adding a RHH RF bat is the most cost effective way to improve this team's weakest position.
  7. Most of the injuries to the big 3 have been precautionary. Were it the playoffs, they likely would have made more starts, and avoided the DL.
  8. This is a former top 100 BA prospect, who completely fell off the cliff. Now, suddenly it seems like he is getting handpicked matchups. Kalish is vastly superior defensively, and projects far better than Reddick. After all our bitching about Mcdonald/Cameron getting more playtime than Reddick, I think it is starting to be clear. Reddick is trade bait.
  9. Are you serious? His first start back after having the flu? If he can shutout the Yankees, he can certainly do the same to the Phillies. Do you know what happens when you take a 5.00+ ERA guy in the NL West and put him into the AL East? Let me assure you, that's a terrible idea. Denorfia is an interesting idea though. A decent RHH RF with average everything, on a team that is definitely selling, and the Sox are already on the same page with as far as prospects go. Take him out of San Diego and he could be a solid OBP guy, and you know he'd hustle more than Drew.
  10. You'd be surprised, actually. From time to time NESN has specials about New England players' homes, and most of them do. I distinctly remember both Mike Lowell and Wakefield had them. That being said, I don't agree with Jeter taking the ball from a kid who could sell it and literally buy a house with the auction winnings.
  11. It sounds like you answered your own question:lol: If its what you want, go for it. And if you feel weird about it because he's only in the first year of his contract... buy a Padres Gonzalez shirt.
  12. I wouldn't trade Hellickson for anyone on the Cardinals not named "Pujols".
  13. When Pedroia was out earlier this season, Tito kept Crawford down in the order. I think both Scutaro and Lowrie got the nod ahead of him on a few days.
  14. Honestly, this seems like a real win-win. The Mets drop significant salary from 2012, and the Brewers get a solid reliever without giving up significant prospects-- how often does that one happen?
  15. You never responded to my question. If you're so determined he has a good shot of leaving, where is he going to go? There are only 4 teams that will have any reason to even sign him.
  16. Cliff Lee, get used to that, you'll be seeing it a lot in the World Series.
  17. MVP MVP MVP MVP!!!!!
  18. It must be such culture shock to go from a place like Tampa where fans don't show up when you're winning to get to a place where fans fill the stadium when you're losing. No wonder he's having a hard time adjusting to the environment
