  1. If I was Theo, I would laugh in the their faces, and go a different direction. For the Mets to even be looking at those top five guys is a joke. The only possibility I can see here is if Beltran agrees to waive his arbitration status as a Type B FA, with a gentleman's agreement not to accept. That circumstance doesn't hurt Beltran at all, and since he'll get more exposure playing on a good team, it'll raise his value.
  2. Reddick, Kalish, Ranaudo? What? There is no way we're talking about Beltran anymore. This must be about Reyes.
  3. I'm still considering the possibility of the Red Sox trading AA players to the Mets. Who could it be? According to Soxprospects the rankings of players at that level goes something like this Middlebrooks Alex Wilson Oscar Tejada Alex Hassan Federowicz Chih Hsien Chiang Jeremy Hazelbaker Reynaldo Rodriguez Tazawa Middlebrooks should be completely offlimits at this level. Federowicz, I would bet they'd want to keep for organizational depth at catcher because it is so difficult to develop that position. As far as the rest of them, I am uncertain of what they would be thinking, and who would be worth it for the Mets to pick up.
  4. Its kind of funny, that the most hazardous position of them all-- catcher-- is the one where both guys have stayed incredibly healthy.
  5. The reason he is a catcher now is because he couldn't cut it as an outfielder in college. NWIH he moves out there now.
  6. Let's pretend for a second, that Reddick is the real deal. In such a case, can we stop holding to the .367/.418/.671 line, and go with his more realistic numbers? Ie, a .250 average guy with 20+ home runs per season, with respectable, but not spectacular defense?
  7. I have a hard time seeing the Angels being sellers. Five games back isn't that big a deal when your 1-2 are Weaver-Haren.
  8. I just want to make my point clear by emphasizing some of the lefties that Reddick has sat for while Mcdonald has played David Price(x2), Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee, Ricky Romero, Zach Britton, Randy Wolf, Shaun Marcum(RHP)
  9. FYI, Granderson's contract ends the same year Ellsbury hits the market.
  10. Ah, sorry, I'm definitely confusing a handful of arguments. But I still stand by that, simply because there is zero reason why McDonald would start ahead of him against lefties, if that wasn't what they believed as an organization.
  11. Dear lord, Ellsbury with a multi-hr game. Theo, sign this kid please.
  12. That's the beauty of Beltran's no-trade clause. He can limit himself to Philly, San Fran, or Boston(three teams that do actually have a big need for him) and put himself in good position to be deep in the playoffs.
  13. Every big trade rumor involving the Yankees has him in it. He was headlining the Haren deal, and the potential Cliff Lee deal. They've declared him untouchable, yet are willing to trade him for whatever elite player becomes available.
  14. I wasn't arguing that they'd platoon Reddick. I was arguing that they'd trade him for someone to platoon with Kalish/Crawford.
  15. Lavarnway has substantially more trade value at that position. If some team believes they can work with him as a catcher, he'll probably have the offense to be a yearly all-star at that position. Plus, if they're including him in trade offers, he's bound to be a great counter to Montero, who the Yankees seem to want to include in any deal they've tried to make this season.
  16. Jimenez is not worth Lavarnway, Kalish, Ranaudo and Iglesias-- which would probably be roughly their asking price.
  17. I wanna see Crawford start running like Crawford.
  18. Jeremy Guthrie is leading the major leagues in losses. Awesome.
  19. Just agreeing with you, and emphasizing that point
